Just saw the music lineup for 2023 F&G. God I wish they would announce these a year in advance. Several performers I would LOVE to see.
Is it just me, or is the music lineup this year (and actually last few without COVID) better for F&G than they have been for F&W?

No, it's not just you. I agree! However, I have a theory that it has to do with age-the bands at the F&G are more recognizable to me (at age 70) than at the F&W. I've had to google a lot of the bands at the F&W because I hadn't even heard of them. Turns out that they were popular in the 90s, sometimes late 90s. There seems to me to be more of an emphasis on 70s bands at the F&G. Now, maybe you aren't of "the age" to agree with my thinking and there may be an entirely different reason (or just coincidence), but it's my theory.

Yep, I'd definitely say the Flower & Garden Festival selections tend to have more "flower power". "Groovy", one might say...

I definitely would have planned a spring trip if I had this lineup list a few months ago.

Is “ Jefferson Airplane” or “ Starship” on the list? For those of you too young to know them, Grace Slick was the lead vocal. “ Go ask Alice, I think she’ll know”……..( White Rabbit). Saw them at the American Pavilion years ago. They were awesome!

"Starship" is there with Mickey Thomas. I think this will be more of their 1980's music. I have seen him at F&W before and it is very entertaining.

Here is the full lineup. I am going to BOLD the ones I would LOVE to see and if in Red ones I've seen before:
March 3-4 – Journey former lead vocalist STEVE AUGERI (I saw him when with Journey. A good voice but could not stand up to Steve Perry) March 5-6 – Daughtry March 10-11 – Tommy DeCarlo March 12-13 – Smash Mouth March 17-18 – Mike DelGuidice March 19-20 – Blue Oyster Cult – NEW March 24-25 – Berlin March 26-27 – The Pointer Sisters March 31 – Luis Figueroa – NEW April 1-2 – Piso 21 – NEW April 3 – TBD April 7-8 – STARSHIP featuring Mickey Thomas April 9-10 – Don Felder, formerly of the Eagles April 16-17 – Switchfoot – NEW April 21-22 – A Flock of Seagulls April 23-24 – Jo Dee Messina April 28-29 – Ambrosia with Peter Beckett, The Voice Of Player April 30, May 1 – Kool and the Gang May 5-8 – Herman’s Hermits starring Peter Noone May 12-15 – The Orchestra starring former members of ELO This band is AWESOME. You do not realize how many hits they had! May 19-20 – A.J. Croce: Croce Plays Croce – NEW May 21-22 – Casting Crowns – NEW I would LOVE to see CC. They are my favorite Contem Christian band and I like a lot of them. Their music and message speaks to me. I have a sneaking suspicion that "Starship with Mickey Thomas" is really "Mickey Thomas with all-new members of the band Starship" but who knows. Just like ELO. Too bad it doesn't say "Jeff Lynne (sp)" I'd be SSOOOOOO DOWN I'd love to see Flock of Seagulls, and I'd be very interested in Jim Croce's son as well as checking out Living Colour and see what they are doing these days. I'll admit I only really know their one big hit they had back in the day.

Given that these are all 15-20 minute sets with no real audience interaction, I've never found these compelling compared to real concerts. If someone I liked it enough to see despite this played, we might go, but I'd not plan around this. And, really, most of these are has-been, used-to-be or never-was bands, IMO...and I've seen some of these as opening acts with longer sets than Disney.
Don Felder really was fun, though, when he opened for CSN, I think it was.
Cheers.

He does not have the rights to use the name ELO.

My observation is about 5-6 songs per set. Is it a full concert of 13-16 songs with the encore? Nope. But it does generally give you their biggest hits But, my guess is you live where you have major acts a lot (Bay area as I recall??) You may be spoiled by the talent you can see there.

We appreciate the shortness as we've short attention spans. We usually just stand or sit in America to listen.
