Southwest is once again offering its companion pass when you apply for there priority credit card. Companion pass is good til 2/28/24.  |

The Southwest Companion Pass is one of the best Airline Deals you can get. We have been Companion Pass holders for about 12 years now. Hard to beat buy one, get one free deals!

So they increased the threshold to earn companion pass for prior customers and then offer this. I would've gotten companion again this year (have had it for 2 years), but they increased the threshold by 25,000 points.

A few months ago they ran a free Companion pass for like 3 months. This one is better since they give you thru next Feb... You'll get it for the 11 months, and have around 34,000 points. Before you could get Companion for 2 years which also ended up with having a massive amount of points to spend.
Reading further... There are tradeoffs here.
This offer... Cost $70, charge $4,000, get 34K points and Companion thru Feb.
(Net 34K points and Companion thru Feb 2024)
Previous offer... Cost $70, charge $1,000, get 51K points.
Combine with second offer... Cost $200, charge $5,000, get 85K points.
(Net 136K points and Companion thru Dec 2024).
I like what we had before better. This one sets you up to *not* have Companion for most of 2024 since you'll be better off waiting till 2025 to get a whole year, but then you won't be able to do it in 2025 either since you'll have earned this new cardmember bonus w/in 2 years.
I wonder if you get the "free" one, then continue on to hit 135,000 by year-end... would it up you to getting the full 2024 year? Hmm.

I'm a little sore since I went out of my way last year to qualify for the companion pass for this year, when it turns out I could have just applied for their credit card.  |
