I am starting to plan our NYE trip which will include my parent's first trip to Disney and I'm perusing the menus to determine where to make reservations.
It will be four years since my last visit and I'm really disappointed by eliminated selections and a massive jump in prices. For example, Chefs de France no longer offers the lobster bisque, salad nicoise or steak and frites. A lobster bisque (only $9 at the time) and glass of white wine was a perfect and reasonably priced lunch. Now the menu is more limited with more mundane and expensive choices. Maybe they are just trying to steer light eaters to their more overpriced "festival" food booths.
Same goes for Spice Road Table. Menu is much more limited and boring. Marrakesh hasn't come back. Their lamb tagine was pretty good.
When Skipper's Cantina first opened I was impressed with its eclectic menu but it has similarly gotten more pedestrian and expensive.
C'mon Disney, for the prices you are charging you can offer more real (and interesting food)! End rant.

Agree, the dining has been dumbed down. I thought it really started the last couple of years they had the dining plan.

Same thing happened at Olivia's at OKW. The menu was dramatically simplified. RIP my favorite: Havana Beef Sandwich with Yucca Fries!

Morocco being run by Disney is the most heartbreaking result of covid IMO. I understand about the avian flu and turkey for menu changes, but some things are quite sad still.

And if we're talking about Olivia's, RIP to DH's and DDIL's favorite-the Duval Burger. Often when Restaurants discontinue things, they say "We're refreshing and adding new things". Well, I don't see the new things, but there are sure plenty of things gone.

Spice Road was one of our favorites but not any more. We were told that Disney wasn’t given the recipes. So, they are doing their own thing, which is not as good.

Yup. The menus are looking more and more like those of an amusement park. There are still exceptions, IMO, but they are becoming fewer.
The loss of Lobster Bisque is unaceptable.
Cheers.

I know new Chefs mean new things but it's like they didn't even try. They had some awesome appetizers, main courses, and oh the saffron pistachio custard was to die for! All gone. It was our absolute favorite place to go until covid. The stores and everything being closed is awful. Supposedly they are still working with the Moroccan Embassy and the Morocco Tourism Board but it feels like positive changes here are very slow.

We asked a server about it and they said new management was trying to make a name for themselves for chapek (this was 6 months ago) by trying to cut costs to the bone. Among other things, they would try to 1) reduce the number of different ingredients needed, and 2) be able to use the same kitchen for nearby qs locations.

Many of the places that were our favorites we don't visit anymore because of the limited menus. Our favorite place to visit was Sci Fi and it was tough to book. The menu is sad now. I guess I save myself a lot of time hunting for a reservation there. We have found that breakfast is a better option now for us. We head there next week for a couple nights and DH is at least excited about Tusker House breakfast now that it's a buffet again.

We do not do buffets, we do not do character meals, and refuse to do prix fixe meals on principle. The TS places that are left need to have some special draw for us then. That draw is the bacon and eggs w/ cheese grits at Steakhouse 71, which is the last place we went! Otherwise, it's lounges, qs, or groceries back in the room for us.

DW and I feel that Sanaa, Space 220, Tiffins, and (for DW and DD) V&A are examples of restaurants with some less predictable menu choices, which we value. In my opinion, even dinner at California Grill is less adventuresome than it was pre-COVID. We haven't tried Trattoria al Forno at Disney's Boardwalk, which we understand to have come under new leadership recently. We would appreciate comments from those who have.

That menu changed like the week we went so when I sat down I was unsure what to get. It was a place I didn't need a chef to talk to. Sadly I had to but they made a great grilled chicken sandwich for me. Still dislike when menus change so much I have to ask what to eat. Happened at the Plaza too but I loooooove the chef there. He rocks. DW and I feel that Sanaa, Space 220, Tiffins, and (for DW and DD) V&A are examples of restaurants with some less predictable menu choices, which we value. I wanted to love Space 220 because of the menu but in the end it was awful having a very inflexible menu for me. One and done. Doesn't help my kid felt lousy the next meal as did a friend a separate trip (same items) so I think the chef uses old oil or something

DH eats a lot and that’s an understatement!! We will go back to Boma though after Tusker. I haven’t been there since 2009. We are going to try Splitsville and see how that it.

Plaza is good but I’ve avoided MK a lot this year!
