I have several reservations that I booked using my DVC points and others that I've obtained through rental sites and Ebay. Am I correct that I can only make room requests to member services for the reservations that use my own points? I want to make some specific requests, not the generic ones offered on MDE. I remember a thread or sticky on the old MO site about phone number/numbers that you could call to make these requests. If anybody happened to save that I'm looking for the numbers to Riviera, Grand Floridian, and Boulder Ridge. Thanks in advance!

Brad Yes, you are correct that you can only make requests for the reservations that were made using your points. You can use Chat to do that, or call Member Services. If the rented reservations are for people travelling with you, you can reference the other reservation numbers and say you are all travelling together and would like to be close. If you want to make room requests for the reservations, you could either ask the owner to make them or use Touring Plans. A current thread on the TP forums seems to show about a 50/50 split between success or not; I’d say requests at some resorts (such as BWV) are definitely less likely to be successful. I got exactly what I wanted at OKW using TP at Christmas, which was booked as a package with Disney. At BLT I just used Member Services, with all our celebrations listed and a request to overlook Bay Lake. We got the 9th floor, so technically upgraded from the Standard view we had booked.

I email MS, include the reservation # in the email. We're probably close to 50/50 with room requests (DVC and regular WDW resorts). I stopped using the TP room request function because it felt like, when unsuccessful, we were placed in exactly the opposite area of our request, like someone getting the TP request was fed up with them and took it out on us. And FWIW, the last time we were in WDW we stayed at Pop Century, got the room ready text as our flight was landing, and the location was the opposite of what we requested (requested 50's near parking lot, got 80's). When we arrived at PC, we went to the front desk and asked if they had anything available in the 50's. They did.

I do mine via email most of the time. I find that TP requests are not being entered. I tend to do more generic. Like grandstand for SSR or upper floor for others. If I do get there early enough and the room location is lousy or I want to reinforce a request I stop by the front desk.

How early in the process should you make your room requests? Is 60 days prior to arrival about the correct time?

That's my timeframe and I've generally been pretty successful having the request filled.

I was told that they start doing room assignments about 2 weeks out. For our upcoming trip I used the chat feature about a month ago to request the building we like at SSR. We’ll see how it goes in 13 days.

We are right around the 30 day mark. I don't know if room requests work. I did get my requested Grand Villa location last fall but probably just a coincidence. This will be our first time in a standard view room at BWV - any hints?

This will be our first time in a standard view room at BWV - any hints? We've always requested "high flor/across from bus stop." If you request and get "close to lobby/elevators", those rooms are close to the resort entrance load/unload area and can be noisy. If you request something like "across from bus stop" or "close to parking lot", those rooms are a long walk from the elevator.

We've always requested "high flor/across from bus stop." Is your goal to zipline down to the bus? I'd definitely do that. The closer you are to the end of the long hallway (i.e. across from the bus stop) the less noise you get from the resort entrance. And some of those rooms, especially the higher floors, give you a decent view of the fireworks in Epcot.

I would rather have the long walk than noise form the entrance. thanks for the suggestions.
