I had a few nights booked in a Riviera Tower studio and wanted a couple more, so I did a wait list, not expecting anything to come thru at all. I was surprised today when the first of the two wait lists actually came thru. To pay 14 points for a studio in July is a super deal to me. And yes, I do know how hot it will be in July, but I had Riviera points that needed to be used by the end of August, so I will suffer through and hit the parks early morning and the pool in the afternoon.
I do know how small those Tower studios are, but it will be just me and I know I will be fine with it.
I will be super shocked if the second night of my wait list comes thru, but this has kind of restored my faith in the wait list system.

That's great! I was on the waitlist for a solo trip in February and it never came through, but I was looking for 6 days. So glad it worked out for you.

Very nice! And yup, I think you'll be just fine solo in the tower room. I quite enjoyed it. Brian, do you remember, was the fridge a real fridge or is it a beverage cooler. I have seen images of the inside, but I can't tell from that.

My second night of the wait list did not come thru yet. However, instead of it taking two weeks for them to link the wait list night that came thru to the original reservation, that happened overnight. I was surprised at that, too. Things come in 3's, so maybe that second night wait list will come thru yet. I know it is very, very small. |

Pretty sure it was real but not positive. As far as I know only the Grand Floridian resort studios have the beverage coolers. |

Congrats - have a great time! I love Riviera - great breakfast. And my son really loved their gelato cart by the pool. We go a lot in Aug, spend all day by the pool and evenings at the park. Great way to beat the heat.

Great way to beat the heat. Thanks for the tip on the Gelato cart--I wasn't aware it existed. Your trip sounds like what I am basically expecting in late July. Sleep in, hit the pool, parks in the cooler evenings.

My trip is growing and growing. I normally book my room, then check cost of airfare and kind of modify everything as needed. I had one last night wait listed and when I checked this morning it had not come thru. I then checked availability and lo and behold an entire week was open for a Tower studio, including the one night I had wait listed. I am not sure why my one night wait list was not filled. But I quickly snagged that night I had wait listed as well as the two nights prior, so I now have 13 nights on a Tower Studio. When I went to change my airfare did not fine a direct flight for first day but I did for the day prior and I now have another night wait listed.
I am also considering canceling my flight (booked with miles) and taking the Auto Train down. Since I will be there two weeks, I would like to have my car with me and I am wanting to give the Auto Train a try.
Those that have been around for a while have said that you should check availability often, even if you have a wait list. My experience today proves that is true. The wait list doesn't always grab what is wait listed. Could be I was just lucky and checked availability the very second that the reservation was canceled, but I am not usually that lucky.
