All I can say is I am glad we were able to enjoy many stays at DVC resorts with our kids and able to plan out trips ahead of time and not have to spend hours each day on the mobile phone ride lottery. I dont know how this will change but we will be in WDW in a week spending prob our last trip in a while at Poly for 2 days and then our one and only Disney Cruise as kids are 12 and 9.
The plan for nearly all future points? Make key reservations and sell them off and/or help friends and family stay at a DVC with our points. It doesnt make sense to sell (OKW at 175 points (2042) and maybe things will change.
The days of buying a 7 day pass since the last few days were $10 extra a day are long gone and the variable pricing along with the utilization of Hijacking all families to use Genie + is plain greed. Not that we request Disney to go back to the FastPass ticketing, but to not allow families to even enjoy the parks anymore with some rides prescheduled makes it additionally stressful for all. All technology rolled out for Disney is just a way to get deeper into the consumers pockets.
The good news here? My kids are aged out and now we move on to Universal! It is unfortunate as I am a Disney Fan, first visit in 72 and prob over 150 days onsite at resorts.
Maybe at some point Iger will get the message.

Maybe at some point Iger will get the message. What message? That all of your points are rented and that people are using them to go and spend money? That the park crowds (and, therefore, spend) are high? That all the things they want - attendance, revenue, are working?
I think he has that message already.
Cheers.

For a minute there, I thought that you had started this thread. I was really curious to see what your new plans were…

Well, the other new plan is to go mid-week since I'll be retired in roughly 3 weeks and mrs. brp is already there
Cheers.

We are likely headed in this direction as well. I'm not totally done with Disney, but I'm done with multiple trips a year. We gave up our APs this year in lieu of a different vacation (National Parks out west). We rented more than half of our points for enough to cover our dues (plus more to pay for this other trip). It was super easy to rent my points (via group on Facebook) and I can definitely see myself doing that again. Our kids (13 & 8) are begging to go to Universal so that is likely in our future soon as well.

What message? That all of your points are rented and that people are using them to go and spend money? That the park crowds (and, therefore, spend) are high? That all the things they want - attendance, revenue, are working? This is true. The points are bought, so Disney got the money up front. You're renting them to someone who will go, and probably spend more per day than you. Meanwhile you'll pay annual dues to maintain an asset you'd rather not have so the message you're sending is not clear. Sure day 6-7 was about $10 extra in 2019. Today it's about $12-$15 extra for those days. Deal breaker? I dunno. Inflation was 10% the last 2 years so it's not like it's significantly different. Day 6-7 is still a great deal if you're buying date-based tickets. Regarding hijacking families to use G+, well they haven't hijacked me. I use it when I want not when they want. If you're just unhappy with going that's understandable.

Rocket, have you tried visiting WDW with no parks stay? We travel mostly as only adults ( hopefully that changes with grandkids in about 3-5 yrs). We usually visit Epcot for some festival. Then try and book a Viator day trip. We love our pool days!! We only go once a year. Maybe try this type of itinerary. Have a great dinner at Disney Springs ( highly recommend Wine Bar George). We love going for the weather and the resorts.

Rocket, I get what you are saying. So many die hard Disney fans have reached their tilting point. Yes, parks are busy right now but I believe that will dry up at some point. When a business loses so many of their base of repeat customers who are walking marketing machines for them, it will eventually be impacted. I for one use to talk Disney to anyone who would listen, including the person in a grocery line next to me or a family sitting near us at a baseball game as a few examples. Now silence. I just don’t promote them anymore and I believe there are many of us out there. Our last two trips have been resort only and will continue like that, not spending any money at Disney. My DVC will be used to soak up the Florida sunshine rather than do Disney 24/7.

My thoughts on your post......
Renting points is always a great option. Depending on how long you have owned DVC, selling should have you break even....I would think. Your kids are still young to be against going to Disney. Going to Universal isn't going to be saving you money. At least your DVC portion of your stays are cheap vs staying over at Orlando. Nothing is static and people change, times change, etc....your decision to move away from Disney might change again next year or the next. You still love it, so eventually that will have you coming back at least for a "taste" of Disney.

Maybe at some point Iger will get the message. I believe he is tone death......Focusing more on his legacy, but ultimately I feel this second coming is not going to end well.

Tom, you guys seem to be making the right moves in life to be able to do this. When you reach the tender old age of 62, I expect that you will be able to do this as well. Well, depending upon just how much you want to spoil the grands. That takes cash, ya know.
3 1/2 months in (although the first two months were constant travel, so don't really count) and it hasn't fully sunk in yet.
Yoga at 8:15 then seeing Oppenheimer at 2:25. It works
Cheers.

Well....We have a plan(s) with contingencies. When the time comes, it will come....
Oppenheimer is a 3 hour movie.....plus the 20m of previews, check your bladder before entering the theater.
