Is the spreadsheet that was started before the end of MO still viable for renting points? I'm not renting points these days, but I thought that was a decent option after RTB went away.

So scamming both the taxing authorities and PayPal. Not a bad racket there
Cheers.
Since David’s is based in Canada is he obliged to issue US tax documents? Is it even possible for a foreign company to issue US tax documents? As for PayPal, I’ve used friends and family to receive money for rentals, since Venmo doesn’t operate here. That isn’t a scam, PayPal doesn’t have rules in place as to what you can receive money for using the friends and family option. They just won’t get involved in any disputes if you use that option. But David’s did offer the option of a personal check when we used them to rent out our points. I chose PayPal because I didn’t have a CAD$ bank account.

As of 2023 the dear IRS is monitoring all transactions received over $600. So, PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, etc will all be monitored no matter how it is sent.

What is the latest thought these days on places like David's? I have some stuff that needs renting out and ever since the rental thing disapeared, it seems it has gotten harder for me. Just too much activity on facebook so you just get lost in the weeds. Travel agencies are one of those companies that as long as everything is fine, they're fine. What matters to me is how they treat their customers when there's a crisis. Disney took care of their guests by refunding passes, giving extensions, etc. Southwest took care of their guests with refunds, removing restrictions, extending companions, etc. Davids... well... there's multi-hundred-page threads on how they handled things during Covid over at the other boards. I don't love using Facebook. It's a lot of weeds and people who post ads in obnoxious fonts. But, I have used it successfully nonetheless. I like the google sheet here and found what I feel is a good guy to rent from on our upcoming spring break trip. Then I keep people I've worked with and try to work w them again in the future. I would never use Davids as a renter. They're asking $21-$23 which is silly. It's a buyers market right now I can do so much better. Feel free to PM me your info if you like. What you have, what you like to rent out. I don't need anything at the moment but there's always next year.

We use DVC-Rental because they pay out the most at 18 dollars no matter where your points are located, David and the Rental store, I have used both in the past only offer $18 per point if you have Premium resorts and $16 if you own at the other resorts.
I have noticed that the Rental Store has been asking for $12 per point rentals on its site and it's a lot of rentals I wonder if there was been a correction in the marketplace? Losing $4 a point is a lot of money.

I am curious to see how the IRS works this as I don't even have a clue how to report this on a tax form, not to mention how to figure out which part of the rental is taxable income. I'm hoping for a magical form.

I have rented several times ( this year as well) fromFB groups and from Pete’s rental board ( I am grandfathered in). As far as FB goes, it takes a little time to “vet” who is serious and who is not. It seems that this year the rental market is a little more robust. I do see a pricing disparity between FB and Pete’s Rental Thread. I feel much more comfortable renting out than renting from. When our site gets up and running, I think I feel much more comfortable. When I still had an active AP, I would often browse the ads on the old RTB and think, hmm... I could do that! Just a few days. No one would miss me... OMG, how I moved into the quote I don't know - for G&G I was checking out the AP hotel discounts and they're 35% & 30% which gives a desirable hotel location for ~ $300/n

We are supposed to now see it for 2023 income from these places if you meet the threshold. Originally it was for income reported for 2022 but that was delayed.
