That itinerary for the DVC member cruise is amazing. Can someone please tell me about the member cruises? I know I’m eligible but little else so these are newbie questions.
Do I have to book with points? What happens to the points if I have to cancel, can I rebook another cruise with them? Can I book for someone else in a second cabin? And I assume I would have to actually do the cruise as the DVC member?

The Charter out of Fort Lauderdale will most likely require at least one passenger be paid for using points. If you used points for either and had to cancel, those points become reservation points and can't be used for a DVC Resort Reservation. They could only be used for another cruise or non-DVC Disney hotel reservation. For prior member cruises (and member exclusive charters), DVC has allowed members to book multiple staterooms.

I have always wanted to do a member cruise, but the timing has never worked out for me. I am anxious to see the pricing.

Thanks JaxFLBear . I am so tempted. The fact we wouldn’t need to use points is great. The timing is the only issue. But we do get the Mon & Tues off so I’d only need 3 days off school. 🤔

Just to be clear, only the Barcelona cruise is a Member Cruise. The Lighthouse Point cruise is a member exclusive and will not have all the "extras" as the Members Cruise.
We did the DVC Members Cruise years ago. We had a blast!!! Got to meet some fantastic MO members, who became lifeline friends. This was back when Claire was in charge of DVC and got a chance to meet and talk with her.
The cruise costs more then a comparable regular cruise, but the experience was worth it to us.

The Florida cruise would be of the most interest to us but I'm not thrilled with the ship or the time of year.

I would love to go on a Member cruise - unfortunately we are one of those in-between members - bought resale early enough to get the blue card, but are not eligible for the Member cruise.

We bought in 2014 so we have Blue Card, but I thought there was an early cutoff date for being eligible for Member Cruises. I don't know what it is, but it's a few years before.

They could only be used for another cruise or non-DVC Disney hotel reservation. For prior member cruises (and member exclusive charters), DVC has allowed members to book multiple staterooms. I usually get travel insurance on any points I use for this very reason. We use mostly cash but I’ll use points for person 3 or 4. I have always wanted to do a member cruise, but the timing has never worked out for me. I am anxious to see the pricing. Me too. A member cruise is on my bucket list. I just might be able to do the June one! Crossing fingers. It was on mine too. I splurged to go on the 25th anniversary Member Cruise out of NYC. There was so much construction that I decided an 18 month break to use some points wouldn’t be bad so I could come back to a completed park. Unfortunately, COVID extended that for another year. It was absolutely worth it if you can make it happen. It was my dad’s first cruise (we explained being in the Navy didn’t count as an actual cruise) and he’s now spoiled. We’ll be on the next one in September. I’m excited about the June cruise. I know it’s not a traditional Member Cruise with daily gifts. My dad grumbled about that idea and my sister said “Give me $500 and I’ll make sure you still get a daily gift.” I would love to go on a Member cruise - unfortunately we are one of those in-between members - bought resale early enough to get the blue card, but are not eligible for the Member cruise. Not understanding this. If you are blue card eligible, why would you not be eligible for the member cruise? I recommend double-checking. I thought you just needed a blue card to go on a Member Cruise. There could be restrictions if you wanted to use points for a portion but I think that would be the only issue.

We bought in 2014 so we have Blue Card, but I thought there was an early cutoff date for being eligible for Member Cruises. I don't know what it is, but it's a few years before. We were one of those members too until we added on at Riviera through Disney. It certainly wasn't a factor in us adding on direct, but it was a strange restriction they added to us as resale members. You are correct about this. It was a period of a about 5 years where we got all the benefits of DVC except Disney Concierge Collection and the member cruises. Here is the info:
"Disney and Concierge Collections options are not available for ownership interests not purchased directly from Disney Vacation Development, Inc. after March 21, 2011, and, effective April 4, 2016, Members who have not purchased an ownership interest directly from Disney Vacation Development, Inc. will not have access to Membership Extras."
The word "Disney" at the beginning of the statement apparently encompasses the member cruises.
We purchased VGF in March 2016, so we are under this same umbrella with our VGF points. If I have a mix of points between different resorts with different restrictions, I wonder how that would work with booking a cruise. Could I use my BLT points which are totally resale with almost no benefits to pay for one person on the cruise, or would I have to use only my Riviera points which are the only ones I own which allow me to book cruises? Could I do a hybrid approach and use both Riviera and BLT?

And here is is on the actual member cruise info website:
“Effective March 21, 2011, Members who do not purchase their Ownership Interests directly from Disney will not be able to use those Vacation Points to make reservations for the Member Cruise. If a Member wishes to pay entirely in cash, they must still own at least one Contract with Ownership Interests purchased directly from Disney Vacation Development, Inc. Effective June 3, 2021, to obtain a Disney Vacation Club Digital Membership Card, Members must accumulate a total of at least 150 Vacation Points purchased directly from Disney Vacation Development, Inc.”

At the time of purchase, the total needed was 75 pts direct. I purchased 118 pts. That is my sole contract. Shouldn’t I be grandfathered in instead of now owning a total of 150 pts?
