Chef's Table--Pizza --Netflix
On my "to watch" list
Reggie--Amazon Prime
Marc Maron From Bleak to Dark--HBOMax
Hacks--HBOMax
ETA: Catastrophe (Amazon Prime)--it's pretty funny so far
Also--finished Mayor of Kingstown--really good acting and writing, extreme graphic violence (Sons of Anarchy level)

Breaking Bad (I might be the only person on earth who hasn't seen it)--Netflix You're not. We started it and, after about 4 episodes, found it unwatchable and quit.
Cheers.

It's definitely not living up to the hype. My son loved it. I feel committed now, as we're into season 2.

Been a lot of years, wife was watching it when it came out, and I found myself watching most of it, too, even though I don't like to sit down and watch tv, especially these really slow 14-hour movies they make these days where they only show one hour at a time...anyways, to this day things pop into my head, certain things that happened later in the show, things that I remember bothering me back then and I still find myself contemplating them now.

DW and I (and subsequently, unrelated good friends to whom we recommended it) have been watching Astrid. It is a later production by the company "Walter Presents", like Emma, which I mentioned in an earlier post. The title character in Astrid is a Parisian police archivist who is on the autism spectrum. The character is a member of an autism support group for adults; parts of their meetings are shown in almost every episode and feature an appealing subset of the show's many recurring characters. (If one looks at the end credits, one will see that it is advised by French autism advocacy groups.) The show is in French with English subtitles. Like other policiers set in France, it will expose viewers to possibly unfamiliar differences between Code Napoleon and American criminal jurisprudence. Beyond Astrid herself, the rest of the characters are strong, and the series has been renamed Bright Minds. See: variety.com/2022/streaming/global/bright-minds-france-tv-distribution-unifrance-rendez-vous-1235360453/. We watched the first two seasons of Astrid on Amazon Prime, while our friends watched at least the first season on PBS Passport. It will be nice if the third and fourth seasons referenced in the Variety article are picked up by one or both streaming services.

She buys the PBS Masterpiece "extension" (correct word, I do not know) on Amazon Prime. Some years ago I introduced my wife to a couple of British or other European detective shows, she became hooked on their darker, less flashy, more thoughtful style, and now has at least two different British-channel extensions to Amazon Prime, plus the aforementioned PBS Masterpiece extension which is full of European dramas.

I’ve been watching an English murder mystery series called “ Midsommer Murders”. It’s rather lighted hearted but really well done. All of the cast members play different characters on the shows, so they will look familiar but in different roles. It is so popular there are 12 seasons! It’s on a lot of free streaming channels like Pluto TV, as well as Netflix and I think Prime. I”m on season 8.
