The DW and I were excited to see this news! I am interested in the other plots they plan to explore, but I will always love the Luke Skywalker story, and Rey is now an extension of that. I enjoy the various Star Wars TV shows that have come out, but I have been eager for new movies. Like you said, opinions vary widely. I try to enjoy each movie for what it is and enjoy as a fan and not a critic. My only complaint was how Luke was portrayed. His character could’ve been handled so much better in the last 2 movies. Anyway, I thought it was great news!!

No thank you. Disney killed star wars for me with 7,8, and 9. I can't even watch 4, 5, or 6 anymore. the only star wars movies I enjoy now are the prequels - which I was meh about before the sequels were released. I wish they would redo the sequels with an alternate timeline.

I am also enthusiastic about Rey's story continuing. DH and kids not, , but I really liked her character, and wish it had been done better in the movies. Maybe this will help fix all of the problems with the movies. Daisy Ridley was great in the role, and there's certainly potential. I'm even more excited about whatever project Dave Filoni will be working on. He's rarely disappointed, and I think he is the true heir apparent to Lucas. Looking very forward to Ahsoka. Less excited about whatever will be set way back in time, but who knows. Maybe they'll tell a good origin Jedi story. I was the least excited when Bad Batch was announced, and it has proven to be excellent.

Ahsoka runs the risk of being Mary Sue among the Jedi, like young Leia in the "practically sunk without trace or mention" Obi-Wan Kenobi series. If her setting's timeline lets the character work on her own, I think it could be a real contribution to the franchise.. I concur with the strong support for Daisy Ridley.

Dear Disney, just stop! Thanks.... Agreed. While the various new Star Trek series' add depth and bring something new, the beating to death of Lucas' franchise seems very contrived. It will sell, of course. And I will likely watch some on disk just because. But great they ain't.
Cheers.

I will say I loved Rey but one thing Star Trek did to me was spread new out and some of the new is unrelated really helping new stories to continue. I think Disney has showed so much SW stuff in a short time and some half asses that I do think think they need a break.
