I haven’t been to a MM event since 2019 I think. We had plans to go to 2 different ones in 2020, but we all know what happened then. I have 4 different membership numbers. 2 of the memberships are qualified memberships/allow me to have all the perks. 2 are not and allow almost none of the perks. I used to have to call member services and get them to do some kind of magic behind the scenes anytime I booked with non-eligible points because MM allows any eligible member to book MM regardless of what points you use, but the system only looked for eligible points being used. You could book a hotel room with cash, and it sometimes still allowed you to book MM, but sometimes wouldn’t work even though it was supposed to allow it. Have they figured this out and linked eligibility to the individual person rather than the points you use? BTW, I’ve had it confirmed many times that the eligibility shouldn’t be tied to how you book (i.e. which points you use) since a member staying at a hotel can book MM using no points at all. That’s not the question. My question is whether or not the system had been recognizing members who book rooms using points from ineligible contracts as able to book MM during that priority window. If anyone knows, please share. Thank you.

Pretty sure they know which points were used to book which rooms. Best of luck!

Pretty sure they know which points were used to book which rooms. Best of luck! Right, but the eligibility is supposed to follow a member for these events. If a member has any eligible points/memberships, then they are supposed to be allowed to book MM That’s the issue. Someone who books a hotel room is eligible using no points at all. The issue was always that it looks at the points you used rather than the person when booking with points versus it looked at the person when booking a hotel room. It’s a mess when you have multiple memberships.

I do know of someone who managed to book when they had a non-DVC resort cash booking at Gran Destino Tower.
I’ll see if I can find any reports of the “non-eligible points” type of booking - successful or otherwise.

I was unable to book an MM event when I entered the number for our other contract, the one not used for the resort reservation. That contract number I entered was a resale contract purchased in 2014, grandfathered in, but it would not accept that number.
The whole thing was a mess because the queue opened up right when I was supposed to do story time with the preK in the library, and luckily I was far enough back in the queue to make it through their stories, but ill prepared because I had only written down the one resale contract number in preparation for making the reservation quickly and lacked the ability at that point to look up the other contract number.
I wish the eligibility followed me that day. By the time I was able to look up the other contract number, the queue was full.

I was able to book Tuesday for the MM at HS in Sept using my resale contract for those dates in Sept. The key is to put in the resale contract # that you used to book the reservation. I did that Tuesday & went thru without a glitch. This is the second time that I've been able to book a MM with a resale contract but we are blue card members so the system is recognizing that we are blue card members.

This is all confusing for sure but, we have been to at least 4 MM events as blue card members with resale points.
There has never been a question as to what points we were staying on.
I will admit that things are changing and I can’t say for sure because recent dates haven’t lined up for us.

I think my problem was I didn't use the contract for our reservation; I'm pretty sure it wasn't a resale issue.

Pretty sure that if members get the email to register it’s a safe bet you are eligible. Blue card status seems to be the main requirement.

Just to be clear, some of you had a reservation booked with points that aren't "blue card eligible", but you were still able to book a MM event using one of your "blue card eligible" membership numbers which was a different membership?
For example, I have 4 membership numbers, VGF, RIV, BLT, and VGC all different UYs and all different membership numbers. Only the VGF and RIV memberships allow me to have perks. If I book a room with my non-eligible BLT points/member number, will I be able to use my RIV or VGF membership number to try and book a MM event?

You must use the contract # that you booked the MM reservation under even if it's NOT your blue card contract #. My blue card contract is RIV but I made the reservation for MM under my VGF Resale Contract so I used the VGF Resale Contract # when registering for MM and had no issues. Do NOT put in your blue card membership # if that is not the contract that you used to book the reservation for MM. Does that make sense?

The system seems to be able to recognize now the member is a blue card member with one of her memberships even when you booked a reservation using a non-blue card membership. Thank you.

Data point...We were able to register for the July 2022 MM on an SSR stay that was booked through RCI. We purchased the reservation from a friend, and it was linked to our MDE account. I was skeptical that I would get the email invitation, but I received it and had no problems registering for MM.
