We said we weren't going to Disney at all this year. We let our APs lapse and planned a two-week road trip to see the West this summer instead. The kids & I went to Clearwater for spring break and not once did I miss Disney. Then Disney decided they would start selling APs again. And I justify buying myself the AP knowing we would likely go again before April 2024. Then I looked at the school calendar and realize we get out of school on December 15 for winter break and we could go to Disney for four days before the blackout. The kids have been begging to go to Universal. We haven't been since 2015. DD doesn't even remember it and we're currently reading Goblet of Fire. Well...we could go to Universal after our APs blackout. Ask DH and it wasn't even a hard sell.... So, guess our kids are getting a trip this Christmas!
I went ahead and booked a studio for BLT from December 16-21. That's full use of the points I have left in our 2023 UY. Here's my conundrum. Do we want to book a stay at one of the Universal "deluxe" resorts (Hard Rock) with 3-day tickets OR save $1500, stay at Disney on our points, and get Universal APs that will allow us to visit anytime in the following year?? It's the gift that keeps on giving the whole year! It seems like a no-brainer to me, but I'm curious about others' thoughts. I also reached out to a TA to see if my figures on a resort package are correct.
So..what would you do?
