Hi all! I thought I'd share a quick TR. DH and I just got back yesterday from 5 nights at SSR. I'd posted in a thread about the recent $35 G+ pricing that we had planned to get it for a MK day to experiment with it, but the increase to $35 priced us out. I know there are very valid reasons both for and against, but we opted not to purchase it or any individual lightning lane attractions. Crowds were heavy and the weather was grey and "spritzy" for the first few days, and then Thursday was sunny & HOT. It was just the two of us, and we were willing to get up early to try for the VQ. DH was the winner for the VQs - he got them before me every time (& I'll never hear the end of it, haha). Here's what we did:
- Sunday - Easter brunch at Steakhouse 71, toured Easter displays at Contemporary and Grand Floridian, settled in at SSR, walked to Disney Springs in the evening
- Monday - Magic Kingdom: 7DMineTrain, Space Mt, Tron (VQ boarding group 2), PeopleMover, Buzz Lightyear, Teacups, took a full circle on the Railroad, Little Mermaid, Philharmagic, Hall of Pres. Returned to SSR to relax. Headed to Epcot for the evening: Spaceship Earth, Soarin, Living with the Land, Journey into Imagination, Canada movie, F&G snacks, Epcot Forever fireworks, Remy, Test Track (single riders), Guardians (VQ)
- Tuesday - slept in, explored SSR, drove over to Ft. Wilderness to check out the campground, dinner at Wilderness Lodge (Whispering Canyon), back to SSR, walked to DS for evening
- Wednesday - MK again: Peter Pan, Small World, Haunted Mansion, Tron (VQ 9), Laugh Floor, Carousel of Progress. Back to SSR for break. On to Epcot: snacked F&G booths, Grand Fiesta Tour, shopping, DVC lounge, Butterfly exhibit. Back to MK: Fireworks, PiratesotC, Barnstormer, Pooh, Country Bears, BTMRR - We actually left around 11:45pm (park was open until 1am for guests of deluxe resorts) because we'd done so much and well...we're old and were getting tired.
- Thursday - DHS: Slinky, TSMM, Tower of Terror, Star Tours, MMRR, Skyliner to Riveria for lunch at Primo Piatta, Skyliner to Epcot: Voices of Liberty, American Experience, photos of topiaries, F&G booth desserts, Skyliner back to DHS for MF:SR and Star Tours (again). Back to SSR for break and dinner at Turf Club. Back to Epcot (anyone have whiplash yet!?) bc DH had snagged a VQ for GotG when we hopped over at 2 for Voices of Liberty (BG 197; must've been nearly the last one of the night and it was PACKED - backed up throughout the whole opening room with the ceiling "show" - we've always walked right up those ramps but not this time! Must be true that they really let people come back anytime and everyone was waiting for it to be their last ride on their way out?).
- Friday - packed up and checked out. Headed over to Trails End for a late breakfast. I'm so sad this place is closing - we'd never been there and we really enjoyed it. Oh well, at least we got there once.
It was great to check out some things that were new to us (SSR, Tron, Turf Club, Trail's End) and enjoy our favorites. We didn't get over to AK at all and cut short our DHS time (didn't do RotR or see Fantasmic), so we'll definitely be planning to include those on our next trip. Time to start planning for July!
