Another beef that I have with Park Reservations is that you have to have a valid park ticket to make the reservation. Tough for a DVC AP holder that has to wait until the 60 day window to renew and hope that park reservations are available. Before Park Reservations, you really only needed to worry about the park closing to guests for major holidays like Christmas and New Year's. Wish they would use these Park Reservations for when it's actually needed to control capacity. And if they can remove the ressie requirement after 2pm for AP holders on weekdays and all parks except MK on weekends, they have the ability to have it on and off for specific days of the year. Two years in a row now I have renewed 60 days out which was in the middle of my trip. It hasn't been an issue as a whole to do so. 2021 was harder but no issues since. The park hopping 2pm thing still burns me.

I love park reservations, I’ll be sad when I don’t have to deal with them anymore.
Ice cream is not open at 8 am yet either.

This is a big win for FL residents with annual passes. Exactly! Last minute evening visits are back for us.

But not the same I know I still remember the day I was done at Epcot and went to the Poly and the dole whip stand was not open and I couldn’t get into MK so I rode the boats around. I think I ended up over at the WL. It turned out okay in the end. I never did go to MK though. Might have gone to Publix and bought ice cream.

Boat riding is something I enjoy though.

This is a big win for FL residents with annual passes. Quite true. Though to be fair never did have much trouble making reservations night before or day of. Just nice not to have to worry about it at all for evening arrivals (besides Magic Kingdom weekends of course, but it's typically Epcot for dinner for me). Ah but if you made a park reservation you still have to swipe into that park. Or cancel the reservation. Yes it's an annoying loophole. I most looking forward to when I'm off site in October. Then I am far more likely to roll into a park in the afternoon rather than the morning. I have never been an early bird or a rope dropper. I've done it a few times but I hate it every time. It's always super crowded. I'm exhausted by afternoon. And I just don't see the point of it. I'm able to do everything I want by staying until Park closing. Why would I want to torture myself with 4 hours of sleep and rushing to a park? Definitely no reason to rope drop on four hours of sleep. Doesn't sound like fun. Some of us, on the other hand, are earlier to bed and can get a full night's sleep and rope drop when it's far less crowded than later (we've been there at all times of day and rope drop is very low. Comparable to the waning minutes of park opening, as you say. On the few days when they have the extra evening hours for onsite guests only, we have gone and enjoyed that. But rope, barring that, rope drop is great. Low crowds and easy access. We're done with the parks by early-mid afternoon. May hop to Epcot for F&W, but we're not doing rides and can avoid the crowded parts. In general, my experience is that more people are like you, in general, and sleep in (Disney and in general). This makes mornings great just about everywhere and the rest of the day more crowded. Everywhere we go. And we like that more folks are not morning people Cheers. Bingo. People's refusal to wake up, always but especially on vacation, works just fine for me. I'll gladly enjoy the few hours in the morning when the temperatures are actually decent and the crowds are bearable.

Can you park hop to MK on a Saturday or Sunday if you start at another park first?

Years ago there was an AP that started at 4pm. I think it was geared to conventioneers but Floridian could purchase. This kind of reminds me of that except that AP was significantly discounted - LOL. The MK restriction wouldn't bother us.

I read this morning that the VQ for Tron was still open after 2 pm and APs without a park reservation were able to join. May not always happen, but it's worth a look once inside MK.

The MK restriction wouldn't bother us. It was the Epcot after 4 annual pass and was FL residents only. The tickets available to conventions were regular daily theme park tickets with an entry time restriction.
