I think I recall seeing this somewhere else...and it's still virtually useless as far as I'm concerned. Still no hopping until 2. Changes nothing of substance, IMO.
Cheers.

Well it helps those of us who are night owls. The only thing it's cruise with are those who want to get in a virtual queue at 1:00 p.m.
But for me and my family it means we can sleep late in the morning, have a wonderful morning and lunch time at the resort. And then go into any park we feel like.
It also makes Bus Roulette a viable game again.

The only benefit I see with this is on your arrival day with a mid-late afternoon flight arrival. You can decide which park you want after you arrive.

True that, as well as broganmc's comment about late sleepers. We always pick Epcot for arrival day since we always stay on the Boardwalk, so can pick early. And we're not late sleepers, so can always visit our first park, typically for rope drop. So, a benefit for some, definitely. Just not for us, while hopping restriction removal, like the "old days" would mean something to us.
But a removed restriction is good.
Cheers.

Baby steps but it’s forward progress to normalcy.

This is a big win for FL residents with annual passes.

Apparently, there is still an exception for visits to Magic Kingdom on a Saturday or Sunday. A reservation is still required even for AP holders.

This is a big win for FL residents with annual passes. Yes, I think this is something that primarily affects locals. For all the complaints, the Park Pass reservation system is the one change that has been no big deal. As DVC owners, we plan far in advance, so there are never any issues getting Park Pass reservations for the length of our trips.

But for me and my family it means we can sleep late in the morning, have a wonderful morning and lunch time at the resort. And then go into any park we feel like. This is how we do it. And the 2pm thing stymied us on multiple occasions on our last trip; with this latest change it will be almost back to normal. (for us) I suppose we will still end up making reservations at parks, it would be stupid not to...but then as the morning/mid-morning/lunch rolls on, we could say "you know if we wait an extra 45 minutes we can just go to X instead" and be done with that asinine going to park-A just to swipe in before proceeding to park-B.

Ah but if you made a park reservation you still have to swipe into that park. Or cancel the reservation. Yes it's an annoying loophole. I most looking forward to when I'm off site in October. Then I am far more likely to roll into a park in the afternoon rather than the morning. I have never been an early bird or a rope dropper. I've done it a few times but I hate it every time. It's always super crowded. I'm exhausted by afternoon. And I just don't see the point of it. I'm able to do everything I want by staying until Park closing. Why would I want to torture myself with 4 hours of sleep and rushing to a park?

Why would I want to torture myself with 4 hours of sleep and rushing to a park? Definitely no reason to rope drop on four hours of sleep. Doesn't sound like fun. Some of us, on the other hand, are earlier to bed and can get a full night's sleep and rope drop when it's far less crowded than later (we've been there at all times of day and rope drop is very low. Comparable to the waning minutes of park opening, as you say. On the few days when they have the extra evening hours for onsite guests only, we have gone and enjoyed that. But rope, barring that, rope drop is great. Low crowds and easy access. We're done with the parks by early-mid afternoon. May hop to Epcot for F&W, but we're not doing rides and can avoid the crowded parts. In general, my experience is that more people are like you, in general, and sleep in (Disney and in general). This makes mornings great just about everywhere and the rest of the day more crowded. Everywhere we go. And we like that more folks are not morning people
Edit: Just got around to making our park reservations for our late May trip (everything available all days, btw). Saw that that they have one of those resort-only late night things at MK 10PM - 12AM, so we will do that...then go later into Epcot the next day.
Cheers.

Same, and this is why the 2 PM hopping time sucks. We liked having the option of hopping to another park for lunch if we've had enough park time, and we usually eat lunch early (11:30-ish). Recently, we've been going to a resort (e.g. Kona Café if we're in MK) or Disney Springs if we want to eat lunch somewhere other than the park we're in. We rarely return to a park after lunch. It's pool and/or chill time.

Another beef that I have with Park Reservations is that you have to have a valid park ticket to make the reservation. Tough for a DVC AP holder that has to wait until the 60 day window to renew and hope that park reservations are available. Before Park Reservations, you really only needed to worry about the park closing to guests for major holidays like Christmas and New Year's. Wish they would use these Park Reservations for when it's actually needed to control capacity. And if they can remove the ressie requirement after 2pm for AP holders on weekdays and all parks except MK on weekends, they have the ability to have it on and off for specific days of the year.
