The new pictures confirm that we would not buy there and probably never stay there. The only scenario might be staying a night or two simply for nostalgic purposes as we used to stay at Fort Wilderness before we bought DVC.
If it were twenty years ago it might have appealed to me with three small kids. But you have to remember the kids grow up. Fast. There’s only a very small window for sharing a bathroom and sleeping space.

On the Touring Plans forum we had a heated debate between people like me, who want a private master bedroom for separation from kids, and those who want a new type of 1-bedroom villa with two queens in the bedroom so that will accommodate a family of six. It was surprising (to me anyway) how many people liked that idea. But very few of them were existing DVC members. So it’s possible that, like the duo studios, the cabins might appeal to a new group of potential owners. I will say, think about how many families who do just one hotel room and cram everyone in together. So those people likely don't have issues sharing same spaces? For me it comes down to cost. DVC point prices have increased like crazy over the years. If we'd bought in when they were under $100 then we'd probably have enough to do one- or two-bedrooms. But there's just no way we could do that with the current prices. I think a one-bedroom that could hold six instead of five that would be appealing to bigger families for similar reasons.

I would agree that a regular one bedroom would appeal if it held 6. I don't see these the same. They are lacking in a few amenities and the separation of the sleeping is lousy as is the bathroom location. If they could make an OKW 1 bed hold 6, life would be amazing for many. Could you imagine?

Trying to follow the discussion on this, and failing to fully understand what it means.
But as far as I can gather, if you buy in here you’ll be buying into the DVC Trust, and it won’t be a deeded interest in the resort.

The dog rules don't seem like they would work to me.
Good luck with that. I'm sure some dogs are trained to stay off of furniture, but ours never were.
Are they cleaning the rooms again? Maybe I missed that. We typically do split stays and seldom stay in one room for the 4 days required for a cleaning. But scheduling with housekeeping when the dog is out? I guess if you're taking the dog to the park that would work...otherwise I guess you're just walking around the campgrounds, because

Now to comment on this. There is no way in hell I will be staying there if dogs are allowed. I realize that service dogs can happen at any Resort and that is fine with me. However, this past week we were around dogs every day and for multiple hours at a time. My husband was miserable halfway through their trip because of it. I will not be risking staying in a place where there is possible excessive dander and fur. I actually appreciate that the DVC resorts currently do not allow for pets and explicitly stated as such for this reason. I understand again service animals as well as during a hurricane I would absolutely hope they help people out who are in need. I also have zero interest in staying in a place that has a trust set up for this type of vacation Club. This seems like a completely watered down version of what I like in DVC. Thank goodness for the new tower being built because it is the last place I will probably care to buy into. And in this case, it's just me adding on to my current points. I think DVC has lost their ever loving mind with both of these. You know darn well those dogs are going to be all over the couches and I'm pretty sure that they are currently at the cabins though I'm unsure of what the rules are supposedly there for animals.

I still think that mostly Fort Wilderness and DVC appeal to different groups. We have friends who love FW and have spent years camping there over the holidays. They could easily do DVC, but it just does not appeal to them. They book as a large group with multiple sites and the trip is as much about the easy social interaction around campfires, with all the kids in and out of everyone's space, as anything else. They enjoy the camping, with the Disney amenities being a plus instead of the point of the trip. Most of our DVC friends want some chill relaxation outside the parks while enjoying the close proximity to the action. These are very different things. Maybe the new DVC cabins at FW will widen the pool of potential owners. Certainly there is money in the camping world. Interestingly, I've heard some comments that the campsites and loops at FW are too small for large modern $$$$ RVs and motorhomes. I liked staying at a cabin at FW years ago when DD was young. Although even that sleeping configuration was odd for us, as DH wound up on the double bed, I took the bottom bunk and DD was thrilled to have the top bunk bed in the same room. As a teenager now, I suspect she would roll her eyes and ask if she could just stay home if she didn't get her own room. I hope the DVC cabins at FW are successful. I'd like to see the model work. There are some park models at other campgrounds that offer a different floorplan. I thought Disney might go for something like models at Camp Margaritaville in Auburndale, FL. This review - myhomeandtravels.com/stay-at-camp-margaritaville-in-auburndale-florida/ - has good interior photos of this plan. I really like the bunk beds in the hall, which gives some privacy for parents in the bedroom as well as a king size bed. Other variants, like this floorplan, offer even more separation. But the new photos look like just slightly updated takes on basically the same park models with the same floorplan as the cabins that have been at FW for many years now. Much like I thought DVC missed when they did not include more of a kitchen in the Poly studios in something more like a Homewood Suites layout, these new cabins may be a missed opportunity for a real upgrade with the DVC transition. We absolutely will stay at FW again. But looking at these photos, I suspect we may stay in our own RV instead of one of the new DVC cabins.

The dog rules would be a non-starter for us as Katie is allergic to dogs.

I’ve seen more discussion about whether they will put unsold (&/or undeclared) points at resorts like Aulani, Riviera and VDH into the Trust. And also whether some of the points at the Poly Tower will also be added.
The idea being that then they can still sell the idea of the Trust members being able to book at the Deluxe resorts.

Yes big discussions about the addition of the new Poly2 being added to the points Trust ownership.

That’s a pretty good floor plan using the hallway for the bunk beds … Does anybody remember the bunk beds with a trundle roll out bed when the Grand Californian opened?
I stayed recently at the Fort Cabins and will probably stay one night with new DVC cabins .

Just to clarify, that second floor plan that was shared was not for the DVC Cabins, it was for another resort. Sadly, because it is a MUCH better floor plan entirely.
