I've never used DVC before and am not an owner. I've got a trip planned this fall and will eventually post those wanted dates on the RTB once I finalize a few details. But before I go there I wanted to ask you guys about realistic expectations on price and availability. Obviously as a renter my goal is to save some $$ and hopefully help out an owner needing to offload points. I'm also looking to develop a relationship for any potential future trips.
I'm thinking of splitting 2-3 nights at two separate resorts and only need a standard studio which I'm assuming are the first to fill up, trying to keep my costs down like everybody. With my trip about 5 months out or less, is it realistic to hope for one of those to be a Monorail Resort or BCV? From my early investigation it seems like OKW, SSR, AK will all likely have availability until later. But, am I nuts to hope for something like 2~3 nights at BCV and 2~3 nights at VGF on weekdays, no weekend. And what do you guys think I should realistically expect to pay for Price/Point? I know the sites like David's are around $21. Is hoping to find $15~18 an insult?
You guys are super helpful and I have really enjoyed coming here the past few weeks and reading all the great content.

If you are looking at September, you probably won't get monorail or boardwalk area resorts for a standard studio. You will be competing for rooms during Food and Wine, as well as Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. Those rooms need to be booked as close to 11 months as possible. Be prepared to book the higher points categories. Price will vary from owner to owner. But for the most part, owners who rent regularly aren't looking to "unload points." They're pretty savvy with their holdings. Not trying to be rude, just a couple of friendly observations. If you plan to rent again, I would suggest contacting owners 12-13 months prior to your next trip. That will provide the best chance of getting exactly what you want. Best of luck!

$15 to me would be an insult unless the points are distressed. I would expect $18-20. I would maybe see if PVB is available but otherwise look to OKW and SSR.

As with all things, it depends... Brokers are paying $18/pt for the premium resorts and $16/pt for the non premiums... Points at 11mo out at Grand Californian are probably the most valuable...$15/pt here would be an insult even now with points seeming to pile up and things soften. I wouldn't even do $18/pt. Then there are some of the premium spots at WDW and again, at 11mo they are worth more. I wouldn't rent my BLT points out at $15. I don't think I'd take $18 either... Then there are SSR and the OKW tier. My point situation and mood really come into play here... As for you looking out at the 5-7mo window, if you're looking at studios, then yes, it is going to be tough to find more than a night here and there at the premium ones...especially for desirable times. But it can happen. Not an endorsement DVC Shop somehow has a system in place that scours DVC and looks at their availability. rentals.dvcshop.com/rent/I'm not sure how accurate it is, but they say they update it daily, so it may make a good starting point to get an idea. NOT AN ENDORSEMENT

This close to when you want to go, I think you will have issues finding too many choices. Since we were just able to get Annual Passes again, we were looking for a trip in September or early October this year (trying to avoid fall break in October). We ended up piecing together a stay but had 3 days at BLT and 4 days at Riviera. There was very limited availability (a day here or there) at the monorail resorts, Beach Club and Boardwalk. Not a surprise because of Food & Wine. Riviera had availability but it was the higher point rooms.

Go o the various FB rental sites. You will get a good idea of the prices. Thanks for the suggestion. I've been a bit Anti-Social when it comes to Social Media for the past few decades and have pretty much sworn it off. It's one of the reasons I was pleased to come across this site. We own at VGF, BCV, and BLT. I regularly rent out my unused points for $20 to $21 per point, and I am usually asked to make a reservation at the 11 month mark at those resorts. I do have "regulars" who trust me after several years of renting. I personally wouldn't rent for less than $20 per point because the demand is so great that I do run out of points every year. You might find a good deal by being flexible with your dates and finding someone on one of the FB rental groups. Sometimes people have to cancel and are willing to rent out their DVC reservations. I just caution you to be careful- there are plenty of scammers out there!

Are you from my neck of the woods? Believe it or not, I actually know two other DVC owners here in central Washington...not like know of, these are people I know and have spent time with for work. We were all a bit stunned when we discovered the mutual interest......................one is even a Husky.

Oh no not a Husky! lol, I'm actually from nowhere near there, but one of my best friends is. I drove out there with him and spent a couple weeks at his parents' place 20 years ago, and I found it quite lovely in rural Washington! If I'm ever chatting on the phone with my buddy during football season he is constantly shouting obscenities about the blankety blank Ducks and You-Dub fans. So I root for them by proxy. The rare times I see their logo out here in the midwest I give em a shout out. I think I may be the only person in Ohio who doesn't really watch college football!

Even as an OSU grad I don't! I know we're a rare breed though seems my kid and his friends don't care for it either, but that can change.

If you are booking a one bedroom, then your chance in the 5 month window is better than that of a studio or two bedroom at BCV. Monorail resorts you might have a bit more wiggle room between the three resorts.

Hello,
Depending on your dates I am pretty sure I might be able to help being I currently do have a BW reservation in September. I am not sure when we can post our information on rental so I have not put in all my information as of yet.
Hope this helps.
Have a nice day.

I have a feeling we are going to see a lot more points for rent and there will be some downward price pressure. Months ago I made a couple spec reservations for July 4th. I figured they would be a good bet. In the FB groups I count at least ten other July 4th reservations. Not only are they not moving, there isn't any interest in them.
Others have said contracts are for sale and prices are falling and they are coming with banked points.
