a couple of videos on this page showing the beginning of it (show still going on) then the show shuts down and you can see the fire spreading. Finally, someone comes on and anounces "due to unforseen circumstances..." and everyone in the audience laughing about that. Another video shows the entire dragon engulfed in flames. Apparently, a section of the park was shutdown after that. I'm not familiar with Disneyland, so I'm not sure how much was closed. wdwnt.com/2023/04/breaking-maleficent-dragon-catches-fire-during-fantasmic-at-disneyland/

I've only been to DL a couple of times but basically they closed down everything 'to the left' of Main Street, as far as I can tell, until things were under control. I believe I read most of the areas reopened about an hour later.
Happy to hear none of the performers or crew were injured. Don't think DL will be seeing Fantasmic for awhile (the article says everything's been pulled for a month, I wouldn't be surprised if it's longer, just because OSHA can get involved in California).

This is the 2nd time this dragon caught on fire - think someone would look at the construction?

I guess the show really was "fantasmic". Glad nobody was injured.

This is the 2nd time this dragon caught on fire - think someone would look at the construction? The DL Fantasmic dragon, or are you thinking of the WDW MK parade dragon? Either way, shooting fire from a dragon's mouth is a crazy cool effect, but obviously a potential fire hazard.

Hope they can build a new one. It’s the highlight of the show. I know it caught fire many years ago but I don’t think it completely burned down like this time.

Either way, shooting fire from a dragon's mouth is a crazy cool effect, but obviously a potential fire hazard. I was including both because - obviously - they were built the same way. I think it took about 2 years before the dragon returned to WDW. I wonder if the DL dragon will return more quickly. Either way I would think there is some way to maintain the structure to resist turning into a fire hazard.

Things with moving parts break. Things that go on fire burn. It happens. No one is close enough to get hurt. Rebuild....Make it better....Make it bigger...
