Not much in the way of dining for this trip as I am saving myself for meals on the cruise next week.
I did have lunch one at the Quick Service up on the hill in Japan-this is becoming a favorite of mine.
And I had dinner one night at Nine Dragons. I know this place has gotten some non-favorable reviews in the past, but I have eaten there now twice in the last two years and was pleased with both the service and the food. I had the Kung Pao Duo of shrimp and chicken and it was very good. Chicken was very, very tender. I also had the Raspberry lemonade tea and I thought it delucious--it came with refills. I also had the pot stickers--good but a little on the spicy side.
I had the apple pecan hand pie from Friars Nook. I thought it ok, very few pecans, though which was disappointing. I would eat it again if I was in the area, but would not search it out if not close by.
Lunch today was Chicken Guy at Disney Springs. The kids combo fills me up, and I think the chicken is delicious. Not many places at WDW I can get a meal for under $10.00. I walked in with no wait around 1:15, by the time I left, there was a line of about 30 people waiting to get in.
Chicken wings at Bar Riva the other night--very good--I prefer them without the garlic aoili. I also had the mint lemonade--very good as well, but I was not offered a refil here.
Breakfast the other morning was at Primo Piatto and I had the banana bread that many had said was so good.
Tonight is probably my biggest meal--going over to Sebastians for dinner when my laundry is done. I will add my review on that when I return this evening.
Just got back from eating at Sebastian's over at Caribbean Beach. I would definitely return. Food was gracious plenty and it was all very good. It is served family style, all you can eat and includes a beautiful salad, rolls and a cheddar biscuit in the shape of a Mickey head. steak, chicken, pulled pork, fish (new to the menu), rice and beans, stewed tomatoes, and brocollini. There a flavored iced tea that was very good, can't remember the flavor and then there is a pineapple bread pudding with ice cream and caramel sauce. The interior of the restaurant is very nice and relaxing. I believe the cost was $35 for adults and you do get a DVC or AP discount. Well worth the short distance from the Riviera over to Sebastians if you are looking for something a little different.
Katsura Grill QS? We finally tried it in March. We did not even know what was up there . It's nice when we have time to explore. Great start to your trip. Have a great time.

So much to try on the cruise - if possible try the adult area at the island - best prime rib ever!

Have a great time. Have some of those pancakes - they are amazing!! Love the Blueberry-Lemon Pancakes at Primo Piatto. One of the CMs in the Epcot resort area recommended taking the skyliner over to Riviera for those. To the OP, I'm so glad you shared the info about the real china and silverware being back. I used to enjoy taking the skyliner over for a meal, but last time, when I got the plastic silverware and paper box, the food just didn't taste as good. Now I'm looking forward to my next trip, so I can enjoy those pancakes.

Keep missing Topolino's at the Riviera but will try again on my next trip. It's a hard one to get. One option is to go in early sans reservation and try to get a seat at the bar. We've done it a couple of times and it's the same menu.
We did get a reservation recently and, while the setting is lovely, we were underwhelmed by the menu.
Cheers.

I missed the day a Castaway Cay, unfortunately due to some stomach issues. I have eaten lunch at Serenity Bay many times but have had steak, never seen prime rib offered before, is that something new?

I also prefer more nuts, less chocolate. Gideons is not my thing either. Yeah, no Gideons cookies for me either. I like their cake though.
Good to know. I plan on trying that in Sep when we are there. Any special tips on cake selection?

I did have the lemon-blueberry pancakes the morning we left for the cruise, and they were very, very good. I have heard that they are made with cake batter rather than pancake batter--not sure just what the difference is, but they are certainly very light and fluffy. I do have to say that I prefer the banana bread to the pancakes. You have to get that out of the bakery case when you first walk in. I would be very, very happy with either one for breakfast though.

It is hard to suggest a cake selection for Gideon's because they change what they offer every month. It is more personal preference for what they are serving at the tiime.

I really like Riveria. More than I thought I would and the Skyliner gives a "direct" access option.
Price and point inflation make it a no go but I do love the resort.

Haven't tried the pancakes, but the banana bread is excellent! I also got their big breakfast once - with italian sausage rather than breakfast links and polenta rather than potatoes. It was also wonderful - such a nice change, and big enough to share!
