Heading down Saturday with 5 people. If we have a hard time finding a large enough Uber, can we head downstairs and book Mears at the airport? Has anyone done this? Is it easy enough?

I personally think that getting an Uber for 5 at the airport will be easy. Lots of minivan Uber drivers in the area.

Depends on your luggage situation; wife and I have had plenty of problems - just the two of us - because even towncars don't seem to be designed for four old school suitcases. A Chrysler 300 in particular from a limo company had to have one suitcase up in the front with the driver because only three fit in the trunk. Minivan or Suburban-style could be okay but I have this fear that I would call an Uber-XL and some guy with a BMW X5 would show up.

Only once out of many uses did we not get a minivan and it was a SUV for 4 of us (not asking for an suv either). That was my point. If you want to be safest, hire a van service. We used Tiffany with that once. My aunt is also a big over packer and all her stuff fit with ours (1 full size for 3 of us then, stroller, plus luggage for 2 others.... now it's carry on only), Mears does do on the spot bookings too, but given your luggage sizes that might be more of a pain if uber doesn't work out

We normally use a car service for airport transfers to WDW. But once we get over 4 people, our choices are either using two cars or using a service like Mears or Sunshine Flyer. Fitting 5 plus luggage usually doesn't work well with UBER. But you will find it easier and cheaper just to get two ubers and split the group up.

We found a private driver who has a partner. One has a Suburban and the other a Mercedes car and they make their living driving people around the area. The Suburban picked us up at MCO last week. And we needed both of them yesterday when we left, as DH needed to get to Tampa (Mercedes) and I needed to get to MCO (Suburban). Prices were quite reasonable, in line with Uber. Both arrived early and waited nearby and kept us updated by text. I was ready about 45 minutes before my scheduled pickup. I texted my driver and he was only three minutes away. We were very happy with both if them, and I did ask them about sharing their information with other MOs. I’m happy to share a name and number. Send me a PM if you’re interested.
