I have done split stays between DVC locations and had bell services take care of moving our luggage, and they were great. However, we might spend a few days at Art of Animation and a few days at a DVC resort in July. I assume they will move our luggage between any resorts on property like what I just described?

They always have for us, but the only time I've had a problem with a luggage transfer was when transferring from a "regular" resort (POR) to a DVC (OKW). The luggage hadn't arrived by 6:30, so OKW went and got it. They said that the luggage had been forgotten.

Yes they will, but they won’t transfer any chilled items that need refrigeration.

We had them transfer our luggage from Pop Century to VGF and it was there when we arrived mid-afternoon after spending the day at HS.

If you use WDW to move your luggage, I suggest making no plans that day which involve changing clothes mid/late afternoon, because you won't know when your luggage will arrive.
We had two late (after 5 PM) luggage deliveries (both to BWV), had been in a park most of the afternoon and couldn't change before we had to leave for dinner. Since then, we've used Uber/Lyft early in the morning to take our luggage to the new resort.

Thanks, everyone. From my experience I agree you shouldn't plan to need anything from your luggage that day, but it has always gotten there (eventually).

We are here now. My son’s family just had luggage transferred from Pop to BWV on Friday. They took what they needed for the day with them and luggage was at BWV when we got back from the park. Pop told them luggage delivery is between 11-5. Of course we all know things happen and it can take longer.

Yes has been variable for us over the last few years though we do not do split stays too often. One time it took a very long so since then we just use uber and take our own stuff. We often have groceries/chilled items since we usually do 1 bedroom. Then we give it all to bell services at the resort. Depending on where you are transferring to it is less than 15.00 with tip. Seems like a lot but we want our stuff and we spend so much there 15 bucks isn't much...

Gosh I hate doing split stays. Once I unpack for my vacation, I don't want to re-pack, feel homeless, then un-pack, then re-pack again when leaving. Yeesh. To each their own, but it's not desirable for me.

To each their own, but it's not desirable for me. We just don't. We even have a 14-night stay in Oahu with our HGVC points in February. While there are multiple locations in the area, we have one solid reservation.
If I even want to stay somewhere else on a Disney trip, it will just be a different trip.
Cheers.

Honestly, I don’t really “unpack” when on vacation, and it didn’t end up being a problem. But I understand when some people don’t want to mess with it.

Yeah, and I can understand that a lot of people just live out of their suitcases during their stay, so it's a little easier to do split stays for them. But when I get to my room, I completely empty my suitcase and put everything away, and stick the suitcase in the closet for the duration of my stay.

To each their own, but it's not desirable for me. While split stays aren't our favorite, they're not the end of the world. I like to unpack, but honestly since we started using packing cubes, much of 'unpacking' consists of moving the packing cubes from the suitcase to the drawers - so still pretty easy to pack back up! And since we own at BLT and AKV, if we want to stay at an Epcot resort (and we often do for ease of getting to the parks), we can't always get a reservation for the full time at 7 months, so split stay it is. And in the past, with 2 kids in school and DH being a professor, we often only had very limited windows when we could visit, so no flexibility to change to when there is better availability. And yes, we could sell some of what we have and buy at an Epcot resort, but that would cost a bunch of money, and so we have opted to work with what we can get. But I do understand why you would prefer not to move - we initially wouldn't consider it either, but have decided it is not a show stopper for us.

I don't necessarily set out to have a split stay. I am running low on DVC points for this use year, but I was able to snag a few days at BLT this week for July, and I am splitting that stay with Art of Animation. It was kind of a late scheduling. One thing I try to do is schedule my parks around my hotel locations. So while at AoA, we have HS and Epcot scheduled and more MK while at BLT. That makes it worth the trouble for us. But like I said, I understand why people don't like to do it. Our family loves PVB, BLT, and BWV/BC. So I guess split stays are a way to make everybody happy and to utilize the locations within our plans.

My "guideline" is "eat close to where you are or where you want to be after dinner." We do split stays frequently. Usually it's pre-DVC resort then DVC resort. We've done Kidani/BWV, BC/BWV, Pop/BWV, BWI/BWV. We also stay at the MCO Hyatt if our arrival flight is a late arrival, then go straight to a park the next morning before checking in at our WDW resort.
