If you have any of your own products that you like to use in the shower, I highly recommend getting a mesh bath organizer with a hook. The teensy shelf in the shower is not enough and not flat and everything falls down.
If you’re on Amazon, you can search “cruise essentials “ and get all kinds of suggestions. I like the cruise luggage tags. The cruise line will have you print a piece of paper with your cabin and deck info on it, and they want it attached to the bag. It’s a piece of paper stapled to a suitcase handle. It might fall off. Then how can your luggage find you?
Sometimes parts of the ship are too warm. I recommend a small rechargeable fan.
Bring a small first aid bag with some basics so you don’t need to go to the clinic (and possibly have to spend big bucks). Headache medicine, pain relief, something for seasickness nausea, bandaids, etc.
People cruise from all over the world. Consider packing your preferred masks and hand sanitizer. Just know that the hand sanitizer won’t help with everything, so know where the closest sink or hand wash station is, and avoid touching handles with your clean hands. Carnival has little paper dispensers on the way out of the public bathrooms for this purpose.

You need to pack a small bag separate from your suitcase as you usually board hours before your cabin is ready. Make sure you put everything in it you think you’ll need until around dinner time when most of the cabins are ready. They’ll take your big luggage from you, and you won’t get it back until you’re in your room later that evening. It’s a real pain if you don’t have a carryon or small bag with you with things like a swimsuit if you want to swim that first day. Medication, a change of clothes, etc are also must haves in the carryon. Hope this helps!
