How many disabled can be accommodated? Only about 12 guest seats? It sounds like not very many guests can be accommodated!

It doesn't seem to make sense to me that they'd invest in new buses when trams aren't back yet at some of the parks. And even though I've heard Disney say that lack of staffing is the reason trams aren't back, I'm not sure I buy it.

Am I missing a link about the buses? I just see two posts. Without seeing it have no clue. But isn’t 12 more than the usually busses could handle? If I remember they can accommodate two Ev’s and there was a wheel chair spot or two.

Also trying to figure out how to insert files to post photos for trip report.
Guess I should have had my glasses on in the middle of the night at that new Hotel with the TOTO design toilets.
Anyway.. my friend is a castmember and occasionally gets a cast rate but he also scored a free night at Marriot Bonnet Creek Resort credit card about to expire .
So he drives the overnight shift and they reposition busses from the closing demand to the Openings and gas and maintenance check , etc.
With no,official,announcement from management , they discovered one of the busses had been retro-fitted for new Disabily Access… They were describing it with the name QPods but again, middle of night , quick walk- thru to try to figure them out .
Apparently they are more towards the front of the bus with a new easy lock down for safety during transport .
And they joked that it looked like that left enough room for 12 guests … . He’ll be back at work tomorrow night so maybe there will be more info.
By the way, Disney is starting up the 6 days mandatory schedules for summer crowds , I guess.

I probably should not have posted that ; It might be a single test unit that is never seen but I thought MOers would find it kinda interesting.
I added that I wish they could have a bus design that made the rounds exclusively for The scooters , etc.
Those lines get very long especially with Florida weather .

I googled "qpod handicap bus" and found that the company Q'Straint (the brand of restraints used on most school busses that I've seen, anyway) has a product called "Q'Pod" which is a system that buyers can purchase and outfit their transit busses with. In this case, the purchaser would be Disney. Based on pictures on their page, the Disney busses already use the Q'Pod system, which basically is installed instead of a segment of seats. If you look at their page, you might say to yourself, "Oh yeah I know what he's saying." The "pod" is the bank of three seats that fold up and become where the scooter or wheelchair straps in. Link to their page - Q'PodsYou could theoretically pull all your "normal" seats and install 12 (or whatever fits) of these Q'Pods. I suspect that all the drivers are familiar with the existing Q'Pod system and perhaps use the name "Q'Pod" to refer to a new system they might be trying out? |

Interesting… quoting Brian response.
I guess it does feature a new way to lock down the scooter on the floor versus all those straps .
Maybe more efficient and safer.
