Apologies in advance if this has been already discussed. I Searched but did not find anything related to my question. Next week I and others are checking into OKW for the week of 6/12 of 6/12 6/17, and I wanted to get reservations at Jaleo for Monday and Paddlefish for Friday.
Going to My Disney Experience I found limited availability for either (both were either way too early or way too late). I then went directly to the restaurant websites and found perfect times for both - so I booked them.
Questions:
1) Why would I be presented with a very limited availability list when going through MDE when clearly there were plenty of times and seats available? 2) Since I've made my reservations outside of the MDE 'channel' will I still be eligible for the DVC discount (or the Chase Disney CC discount)?
TIA for any insight you can provide.
As a postscript - Jaleo offered me seating inside or on the patio. MDE had no such option.

Sounds like you booked thru Open Table. Yes, you will be able to use your discounts.
Some restaurants not owned by Disney only gives the Disney reservation system a fraction of their availability and much more is available with Open Table.

We have found that most the restaurants at Disney Springs can be booked more easily thru Open Table. We did run into two setbacks. Morimoto's we had to show them the reservation confirmation we received because we were not in their system. At STK Open Table booked us for a time that the restaurant was actually between service so we were suppose to wait in an empty eatery as they changed over the table tops. We felt in the way of the employees. So there are some problems with booking 'directly' with the restaurants verus the MDE.

My thanks to the responses. 'LauraLea' - yes, I used Open Table and thanks for the insight on how reservation slots are allocated to WDE. 'bakerworld' - sorry to hear about your experience but I've been curious about STK - was it worth the hassle?

Because we were so uncomfortable with the STK situation we moved on to an ongoing favorite, Raglan Road, where there's always a welcome. BRP says it's wonderful and STK is part of the 'Happy Hour' so that is still on my Goal List.

We use Open Table often for the Non-Disney run restaurants. We are normally able to find availability on the app vs booking thru Disney. We have never had an issue doing it this way.
Prior to us joining the Club and Covid, we had a list of phone numbers of our favorite restaurants to call direct to make a reservation. I am not sure where that list is these days or if the phone numbers are still active.

Just got back and found what you all are saying.
We did go to Jaleo and highly recommend it. It is an adventuresome menu to be sure but everything we tried was great. Interestingly enough - they gave us the DVC discount (even though we booked through Open Table) whereas Chef's de France @epcot the next night did not even though we booked that through MDE.
bakerworld - Ragland is the best but we had visited it last Dec so decided to try something else this time.
I also want to make some comments about Old Key West - can someone please direct me to where in this forum I can air some feelings about the current state of the 'Welcome Home' experience?

Chef's de France does not offer a discount for DVC at this time.
If you want to share your OKW experience do so in the Resorts board under Trip Planning.
