I've been watching park reservations for our upcoming trip (haven't bought tickets yet, so I haven't made them yet). I'm noting that everything in the system is wide open. There's not a single day showing any limitations in availability. I know it's summer, which is slightly slower, but it makes me wonder if they have all but removed the capacities from the system. I know it is going away completely in 2024, but do you think that, in the meantime, they've raised limits so substantially that it will really be a non-issue outside of the historic peak days (Christmas, etc.)? Haven't seen anything about this, so I'm wondering if anyone has caught articles or news about it.

Talked to a mother recently who said that tickets and expenses at WDW were so high, it was cheaper to take her whole family on a cruise. It is nuts how booked the cruiselines are, most all at over capacity ( 3-4 in a cabin).

We were on property last week (at Boardwalk) and wanted to change a day or 2 here or there but NO LUCK! While rumors abound of AP (yes us) to spend more time at Epcot and AK - we were unable to change to either of those parks. Opted to just spend time at the resort and skip the parks instead!

The entire rest of the month ,almost, is yellow bonus star ( doesn’t require using 1 of your 5 allotments ) specifically for Epcot & AK.
Are you sure you are checking the Park Reservations correctly? If I have a reservation , the calendar will show No availabilty for my already reserved date . You need to “Modify “ your current reservation to make a change … I have been confused by the system many times .
I think Park Reservations will continue because the MK is always the most popular choice destination and crowded .

I have been looking at Touring Plans lately and every day for the past month or so crowd levels have been down, sometimes significantly, from what they predicted.

Yeah, they told us last Friday was a 5 at MK. The lines were super long (and the sun was beating down on us), we just dumped it and went to the pool. Were there less people in the park? Maybe. But that didn't make the lines shorter. So, for us, the experience wasn't better because of it.

Probably yes, but also crowds this summer so far have been less than previous year or so. More like what we saw in maybe 2016 or 2017 IIRC. We've been going the same week end of May/early June for quite a few years now. This way much better than previous years.
Oddly Spring Break felt worse, but that was because it was FL break and apparently they were out in droves while others who were there for later breaks seemed to be less?

My experience while staying at Grand Californian at Disneyland was that the cast members could “create” park reservation inventory for resort guests, even those (like me) who were annual pass holders. Is this not the case at WDW?

I got a stern lecture at Epcot Front Gate Guest Services when I forgot to make a Park Pass Reservation and was reminded this was a one time only entry for me . !!!
Disney has created the tracking technology to anticipate profit even with low crowds. They just limit the casting and ride movement . They can release fewer trains for Big Thunder for the day , for example. Or completely shutter an attraction at Open to reduce costs, making guest believe there is a mechanical issue .
Also incentive to persuade purchase of lightning lane when “ Tron Run “ free virtual Q is not available within 5seconds …at 7:00 a.m.

I'm sure that it looks different for AP holders that have reservations in place (given the limitations). I'm talking about general availability, which is wide open to resort guest, passholders, and day ticket holders. Not a single day has a single park that is unavailable right now. As for the future of these, they have already announced that date-based tickets will not need park reservations starting in 2024. What happens with AP holders is TBD.
