Which is cool for us since all we care about are the parks. As long as those continue to do well enough to let us go, all is good. The rest is, to me, just noise.
Cheers.
I mostly agree.....I only care because the money the parks make, goes towards paying all the other money losing stuff. That in turn me not much is going back into the parks for awhile. Yeah, and that's why I ca1re as well. If other areas were being self-sufficient, then the parks could use their revenues for the parks. But subsidizing other areas does take away from the parks.
Plus, I'm always up for seeing a good movie. I don't care if Disney or someone else does it. But Disney are big players, so they could be contributing...and really are not.
Cheers.

...and they didn't totally screw up Batuu...... Sure they totally screwed it up. It isn't Tatooine. And, no, I'm not biased Cheers. You're not wrong! Disney missed sooo much with Star Wars and alienating fans and such. Really and truly they messed up bad. As for this, I don't think Disney would necessarily hose it up. I also love Tolkien but I actually do not at all want a park based on any of it.

Really and truly they messed up bad. I don't actually feel alienated. I actually think that they did quite a nice job with the theming. Well done, for what it is. By bypassing the true hard of Star Wars and focusing on the properties that Disney actually created, i.e. Batuu, they just made something that just isn't special or nostalgic to me. Apparently I'm not the only one to feel that way.
It's fine. Just not special.
Cheers.

By alienating I mean beyond theme parks and in terms of money they could have made that kept people from jumping at experiences. Especially the non-Disney types. The Galactic Cruiser failed because of it. The last SW movies did alienate long time fans. They're done now and want to hold tight to the original trilogy. From some friend's perspectives if they had done Tatooine or similar relevance more fans would have given Disney a try. Given the Cruiser a try. Instead they did the opposite. Not to say Batuu wasn't well done in terms of themes. They just missed the mark with focus on the final trilogy that really did not do well with many fans.

I think people would feel differently about Batuu if they livened it up with more characters and impromptu shows. It's what made Star Wars Weekends so great - all the characters wandering around. We loved seeing Jawas that were looking to trade items, Gamorrean Guards posing for photos, Stormtroopers harassing guests. Those characters aren't tied to a particular trilogy or time span. They could definitely be in Batuu. I don't know why there's not a random alien hanging out at Oga's. The setting is really cool. The presence of more characters would put it over the top.

I'll point something out - what you say isn't tied to just a timespan, it's what would draw more OG fans in. They want familiar and great, not a reminder of how far Disney fell doing the last trilogy. While I think Rey is a great character, people didn't go watch it for her. If they had better tied in long time loved characters things would've been different. That's true for the cruiser as well. There's a reason why I passed and my friend who has spent literally thousands on light sabers has passed. It's just not who we wanted. So why waste money on second or third best characters that mean little to us. Rey was well done by Emo Kylo was not great so how about leaving him out?

So why waste money on second or third best characters that mean little to us. Could have been worse. Three words:
Jar Jar Binks.
Cheers.
