I heard something that in many states a person aged 18 to 20 is allowed to consume alcohol while under the supervision of his/her parents. Does anyone know if this is true in Florida?

I don't believe that it is legal in any state to consume alcohol if under 21. With that said, parental supervision goes a long way to have rules overlooked.
Cheers.

You can often do it in the home of a person without issue. Actually, many states offer minor exceptions to the no drinking until 21 rule. In Florida though parents or not, you cannot serve anyone under 21 private home or not outside of a religious reason.

With the exception of five states (Alabama, Arkansas, Idaho, New Hampshire, and West Virginia), all states and DC allow underage consumption of alcohol under limited circumstances such as in the presence of parents, for religious or medical purposes, or while in a class that requires tasting. Some states also offer prosecutorial exemptions for underage persons who have consumed alcohol but are reporting an assault or medical emergency. There is not a minimum of 18.

The legal drinking age in Florida is 21 . I suggest the individual asking needs to understand the legal ramifications with a simple google .and not with the above advice mentioned in these responses . It also is a serious offense to any establishment that serves alcohol such as loss of alcohol license and responsibility for the staff person that does not obey the law. Do not believe the advice you have received Ifrom this thread as a legal reason to not accept responsibility for your decisions. This includes your parents.

Pretty sure the question was a genuine one from a fellow UK MO who has a late teenage son or daughter and wondered whether they will be allowed to drink alcohol on their vacation if they are with their parents. In several European countries there are such rules that allow minors to drink alcohol with meals, even where they are under the legal age limit required to purchase it.

Kids are permitted to drink alcohol under their parents supervision, under the age of 21. This more of an "at home" and supervised environment and not walking around Epcot.
The Legal term applies 100% to the purchase of alcohol, not the consumption.
Every state has their own laws on drinking under the age of 21. For Maryland, where I live here are the rules:
MLDA is 21 with the following exceptions: if "an adult furnishes the alcoholic beverage to the individual or allows the individual to possess or consume the alcoholic beverage; 2. the individual possessing or consuming the alcoholic beverage and the adult who furnished the alcoholic beverage to the individual or allowed the individual to possess or consume the alcoholic beverage are members of the same immediate family; and 3. the alcoholic beverage is furnished and consumed in a private residence of the adult or within the curtilage of the residence; or (ii) the individual consumes the alcoholic beverage as a participant in a religious ceremony."
Meaning that I, as the parent, can allow my son/daughter to have a glass of wine, in my home at age 15 if I want. This is nothing new, its just been misunderstood by many.

The US is the "exception" when it comes to drinking. The majority of countries in the world allow drinking at age 18, with some legally allowing it at age 15.

The simple answer is no. No state will serve under 21 with or without parents present.

The simple answer is no. No state will serve under 21 with or without parents present. Actually.....This is incorrect. Eight states allow a child (adult) under the age of 21 with parents consent at restaurants.
There are several US territories that allow drinking at age 18, the notable one being Puerto Rico.
United States military reservations are allowed to sell and serve to "adults" under the age of 21.
Exceptions to National Alcohol Laws for Minors (Minors is used incorrectly, since at age 18 you are legally an adult)
It’s not always illegal for people under 21 to drink. In 45 states, laws allow underage drinking in certain situations.
In 29 states, someone under 21 may drink with their parent’s permission if it’s in a private residence or on private property. Six states allow someone under 21 to drink on private property without their parent’s consent. Eight states allow underage people to drink with a parent’s consent in public restaurants or bars. In 26 states, people under 21 may drink alcohol as part of religious services, such as a ceremony in your church. In 16 states, underage people can drink alcohol if prescribed by a doctor for medical reasons. In 11 states, you can drink under 21 if it’s for educational reasons, like you’re in cooking school. Five states allow underage people to drink as part of government work, such as undercover police investigations.

I have a friend who was staying at a friend's house while they were away. Came back to a huge party one of the kids as having. Tried rounding up everyone to kick the out. Cops showed up and took him away even though he had just shown up. Court date and $500 fine. Was told he should have called the police upon showing up to cover his a$$.

"Note that unlike other states, Florida does not allow parents to authorize underage alcohol possession at home, and it prohibits selling or giving alcohol to minors, even if it is parents buying alcohol for minors. It is illegal for parents to allow their minor child to consume alcohol even in a licensed establishment." They do have other exceptions though www.hubbslawfirm.com/blog/2020/april/what-are-florida-s-underage-drinking-laws-/#:~:text=Note%20that%20unlike%20other%20states,even%20in%20a%20licensed%20establishment My home state does allow it

I figured this would be a fun thread. Good luck to anybody trying to convince authorities that MagicOwners have interpreted the legal issues especially for those visiting from other countries.
