We have been members since 1995 and have also not ever been upgraded. We book mostly studios and 1 bedrooms with the occasional 2 bedroom when our family or friends join us. We usually book standard views, unless we bring guests or the grandkids or we are celebrating a special occasion. When booking Kidani we do have a knack for being assigned the Pembe savannah (not my favorite). We love the DVC resorts so the standard views are usually fine, and the Pembe savannah can be relaxing when it is just the 2 of us.

Not sure about the standard views - I have only gotten a parking lot view. We actually like the standard view at Riveria, and like to be at the end near the Skyliner. While could live without the parking lot, the standard view provides a view of Epcot from the balcony so at night can relax and see spaceship earth and the fireworks (enjoyable with an adult beverage).

I had booked a studio at Saratoga for my adult kids. They got in very late, after midnight. They checked in, got to the room and passed out. It wasn’t until the next morning when they called me and told me how great it was they had a kitchen and washer/dryer that I told them they’d been upgraded.
Enjoy Riviera! We stayed there in October and loved it.

We've been DVC since 2009 and we've been "upgraded" only once, and while I appreciate it, it wasn't "magical". In 2012 we had a standard studio booked at BWV for 3 nights and they upgraded us to a "garden view", which was pretty much looking at the stairs of the BWV leading down to the grass on the boardwalk. I was happy to have it.

Twice at Boardwalk I was upgraded to their cottages. I believe once I originally had a studio and the other time a 1-bedroom. I’d call the cottages 1.5-bedroom, and they’re quite cute, so I was pleased.
Important to note that both reservations were for single nights, which makes sense that they’d be more likely to move me however works best.

We had been upgraded only once since 2009 from a studio to a one bedroom at SSR. That was during CoVid and the place was empty so assuming management was having fun making everyone’s day with upgrades. I certainly appreciated it enjoying use of the kitchen.
