I did try the paid fast pass option for Beauty and the Beast last night. It was $14pp. The posted wait time was 80 minutes but we were able to walk on immediately after purchasing.
You do miss a bit of interior queue which is worth seeing so I’m glad we waited in line for it earlier in the week.
It’s Friday morning and the sun is out so it is going to be pretty hot today. We are doing DisneySea today until mid afternoon and then we are moving to Tokyo proper. Hopefully I can score a show lottery for the afternoon during peak heat.

It was a bit hotter and more crowded today at DisneySea. Though we were still able to get a lot done with no wait and keeping out of the sun. I went ahead and did the paid fast pass for Soaring: Fantastic Flight. Overall it is the same ride but with a unique queue and back story. It also substitutes Tokyo Tower for the Eiffel Tower and it looked fantastic. Worth the price to skip the line in the heat.
Honestly the heat isn’t too bad. The bay breeze picked up in the afternoon to make it more comfortable but we are fair weather people. Anything +\- 10 degrees from 65 is too hot or cold for us.
We also got lucky with a show lottery for the 2p Big band Beat show. It was another gorgeous theater. The show itself as just ok. They are still doing the Covid modified show so there wasn’t an actual big band or singers. The dancers were lip synching and staying 6 ft apart.
Mask usage is finally waning here. Probably less than 10% of people are wearing masks but that percentage goes up quite a bit on the trains.

We are now settled into our Airbnb house in Asakusa, in Northeast Tokyo. About one block from Sensoji Temple. Literally 20 feet out our front door is a small temple constructed in 1858. Another slightly larger temple is just beyond that and as luck would have it there was a small festival happening with singers, dancers, drummers and finally sparklers. It was quite festive and they had several food stalls and mobile bars. It was in a small area, probably no more than 200 people at its peak. The older women and kids wearing yukatas (summer kimonos) were so cute.
We also stoped in a small sushi go around restaurant. I ate my fill of o toro (fatty tuna) which is so reasonably priced. Hopefully I don’t get mercury poisoning on this trip.
Tomorrow I’m meeting Japanese friend in Shibuya.

Any photo site recommendations that are still free? I think I had a Flickr account but I think it was closed because it’s no longer free.

We are staying in an old wooden house that has been remodeled with modern conveniences. It’s very small by US standards but comfortable.
Downstairs there is a kitchen and small seating area. There is a Japanese bath, where you wash yourself outside the tub (there is a drain in the floor) and then soak in the tub. We also have a washing machine that also dries the clothes in the same unit.
We have two water closets with Toto Washlets that greet you when you enter the room. I love the toilets here. We will get them installed at home during the next remodel.
Upstairs there are two bedrooms. Though calling them stairs is a bit generous, it’s more of a ladder, very steep with narrow steps. One of the bedrooms has tatami mats. There are no beds, instead we are sleeping in Japanese futons which are actually more comfortable than Japanese beds with have the firmness of concrete.
The doorways and beams in the upstairs are probably about 5’9” tall because I can pass just under then but DS14 will hit his head if he doesn’t duck. Also, his giant feet comically hang over the tiny stairs. I’m sure he’s going to fall down them more than once.
The house poorly insulated. As soon as the AC units go off the house quickly gets to the outside air temp which is going to be hot today.

Testing some photos from around my neighborhood in Asakusa. Hmmm. Not working. I uploaded photos to Flickr and tried to add the URL to insert photo icon. Any suggestions? I use imgur imgur.com/Or imbb imgbb.com/I was busy float building when your report started and finally sat down to take it all in. Sounds like a wonderful trip. I do wish I could handle the plane ride.
