And FWIW, the coolest thing in AK the last few years is the parrot flyover (I forget its official name). It's amazing how they are trained. Animal Kingdom has always been 1/3-1/2 day park for us. We were there Sunday, arrived around 10am. Normally, we try to rope drop AK just so we can ride the safari first. That is when the animals are the most active. AK tries to be a better park, but even with three of the best rides in WDW and two great shows, there is a big drop off after them.
FoP is still my #1 ride in WDW. The new coasters are great, with GoG being a ground breaker ride.....but I get such a rush when on FoP.

FoP is more awe inspiring; GotG is an adrenaline rush. DD used to love the Nemo show in AK (I think she knows every word of the dialogue and songs), but after it changed, she saw it and was really disappointed. So we have no need to see it. We do like the bird show f/k/a Flights of Wonder, but it's not a must see every trip. I used to like the trail under the Tree of Life, when it was empty, but social media has made it a "thing" and now it's more busy than in the past. There were many times when we were the only people there, and it's a really serene place in a busy park. Our AK morning is usually our day for lunch in Disney Springs.

I used G+ 2x in June. We did get it before we left usually close to 7 but not always at 7am. I actually don't want total advance planning like you're saying. I just want a discount for AP holders lol We did great using it. Hardly any lines and I don't mind checking for next the moment I tap in. I did that with FP+ anyway. I was forever working the system. Swapping, moving, etc. I got good at making waits nearly nothing. I'm over advance planning though. I much prefer going with the flow the day of. With lower crowds we even did dining for some mid day. To me, I just don't feel like I'm going with the flow if I'm constantly looking at my phone to see where the flow is. If I know I have 3 FP and 1 ADR, the rest of the day is whatever we feel in that moment. Yep we all feel differently. To me being tied down to plans isn't going with the flow. Using a phone gives me freedom. We pick a ride with little wait and run over after selecting. Look at phone to see where lunch is available. Etc. Much more like what we grew up doing. But everyone feels different

I always was an EC kid but as I get more and more older, I feel like AK wows and amazes me and deserves more and more of my attention. So it will never be a 1/2 day park for me.
Edit: okay, fine - our "days" are what others would consider half-days

I wish they would give free passes to deluxe guests like universal does. I am not a fan of this system at all. Paid foe it again to only get two rides:( I wish they would return magic hours at all the parks. Need to give resort guests some perks. No like you get much any more. Can we have merch shipped back to resorts please disney

We finally got a chance to ride Tron this weekend.....twice.
The ride is short, but the rush is high! That take-off put huge smiles on all of our faces!
The boys rode EE five times in a row on Sunday. They would have ridden Tron over and over, but are limited to only once a day.
They also love the GoG coaster, but never made into Epcot on our short trip.

A survey has gone out about proposed changes to G+ …. it might seem familiar lol! pre-purchase for length of stay How far ahead - 1 day, 7 days, 30 days, 60 days onsite guest advantage Pre-book 3 at time of purchase Tiers at MK - NEW So paid-for FP+ then. Could have saved themselves a whole lot of development costs if they go with this. Sorry, tried to copy the survey but it isn’t playing ball. All Disney has to offer me is one free LL per day that I can choose from home and I'd probably still not use it every day. I don't like paying. It took me years to use the original free FP system. Then Disney spoiled me with allowing us to book 3 FP's a day from our home computer 60 days before we arrived. From that Disney reduced to VQ & G+ 7AM wake up. It's not like I am not up but I am usually drinking my coffee or laying in bed reading so 'whoops, missed it'. No. Bring back the days when everyone complained about having to plan their vacation 2 months out. I liked it and I said/wrote that repeatedly.
