I am first to post a thread on this new site around the Theme Parks!
I saw a post on FB about what Disney has taken away related to the Parks.
Fastpass+
Free Fastpasses
Parades
1:1 Character interaction
Free Magical Express
Free Magic Bands
Delay of Tron
Much Live Entertainment
Typhoon Lagoon
Extra Magic hours
Fantasmic
They have Added
Fee Based Genie+ that excludes E Ticket Rides
Contracted/Paid Magical Express
Cavalcades
About 20% increase in food pricing.
I am sure there is more, and I understand factors.
But, in a value proposition, I truly question the "value" of a Disney Park Visit now. I see us visiting a lot more US based vacations vs. Disney in the next years.

My husband and I were just there this past Tuesday and we REALLY, really like the calvacades AND the distance of the characters! We saw Winnie the Pooh chasing butterflies over by Figment ride and it was so darn charming and entertaining! To us, its like a little bit of surprise magic. And a quick show.
And the calvacades fall into that little bit of instant joy, too. As well as short & sweet. I have missed so many parades over the years, so I like how they have broken them up to smaller entertainment sessions. But I sure would like a night time full length parade!

Definitely. If you take a tongue-in-cheek view on Additions by pointing out detractions instead of actual added items you will be able to "conclude" that the value has decreased. Fortunately, others of us can this more realistically and not agree. Certainly if all you see are negatives, it may well be time to sell and move on.

I saw the same thread - it is a nice list.
Disney will keep adding and taking away as time goes on. It is all about $$$
Guests who travel to Disney every few years, once in a life time trip, won't even know or notice what has been taken away.
We miss some and not some others. I am not too crazy about all the planning that must be done if one wants to maximize their time.
We still feel and enjoy the whole bubble and experience. It's sort of inclusive. If I don't want to move my car once we get there, it's all within reach.
Having said that, we are enjoying and adding Vero Beach yearly in addition to WDW. We have our two year in a row in March 2022 (our first time was about 10 years ago).

To be super-picky the Delay of Tron hasn’t been removed. 😉😁
However the good news is that they might have it done by early next year. Work wasn’t due to be restarted until after the 50th but I think it restarted early. Apparently the big wigs decided they wanted it sooner. Fingers crossed.

And Fantasmic should be back quite soon too, again I think they want it back by the 50th. Not sure how that’s progressing but the infrastructure work was completed.
It seems I was wrong about the infrastructure work being finished. The amphitheatre is getting extensive work done. Early next year is more likely.

They also removed included parking for (non DVC) resort guests
They removed Top of the World Lounge
They removed 50% borrowing
They removed the ability to transfer cold/frozen food for split-stays
Various boat transportation still not operating
There's lots more, I'll think on it.
I would also suggest you replace the word "free" with the word "included" since "free" implies we weren't already paying for those things indirectly.

removed TotWL? Is that permanently?? I sure hope not!
by "removed 50% borrowing" I assume you mean the reduction to 50% - that is most definitely still in place, as I booked a room this morning and was short 1 whole point, because of that 50%.
Some boats have come back, and I'm hoping the ones to Disney Springs will be up and running soon, as our next trip is OKW/SSR split stay with plans to eat at Disney Springs.
So none of what I posted about is directly about theme parks, so I guess this is drifting already! |
