We just got back and found crowds to be fairly on par with what we often see at this time of the year. Not crazy busy, but not empty either. Our experience is anecdotal, at best, but I would not have identified it as substantially different from past visits.

Hello, There is a lot going on in Florida/Disney, but as most of us, I still need my Disney fix. Hopefully September is not too bad as far as the crowd is concerned.

Our experience is anecdotal, at best, but I would not have identified it as substantially different from past visits. Agree, we came back a couple weeks ago. I think the parks feel more like August rather than July = slightly less crowded. I think the heat wave over the 4th in conjunction with black out dates for flordia AP holders for the pirate pass and lower, contributed to the significant decrease over the 4th. I do question if the price increases along with pay for FP will catch up to disney. One thing we loved about disney vs. universal (back when we first brought the kids in 05) was the FP was included in disney. Universal - although tickets then were substantially cheaper (I found a receipt 85.00 for the week) - The pay per day per person for the express pass put the tickets closer to disney prices or maybe even more. I think a disney one week ticket was around two something back then.

We've gone the last three summers, late July/early August, and this year did not seem any less crowded than the prior years. The popular attractions had wait times that grew quickly as the day went on, same as past trips.

We're going in September, but we arrive on the Tuesday right after Labor Day, so I'm expecting some amount of reduction from normal. Or just hoping, really...
Cheers.

Some areas go back end of July/first of Aug. Others mid-end of August. Many not until after Labor Day (1st Monday in Sept). Mine starts the end of next week.

I think someone is blowing smoke when they say attendance is down. From looking at historical data the crowd level is about the same as in previous years.

Well, the latest reports came out and sure enough attendance at WDW was down.
Our recent trips have been mixed. None of them have been especially crowded, but some individual days at Magic have seemed super busy.

None of them have been especially crowded, but some individual days at Magic have seemed super busy. When we went the weekend prior to July 4th, we thought the parks were way less crowded vs previous July 4th weekend trips. Even the VIP Tour area at MK was at 50% capacity.
We will be there in a few weeks for Labor Day weekend, then again at the end of September. I will have another opportunity to see for myself.

HS is usually insane - hard time finding a seat at Baseline. Seriously, I am hoping it is down. It is really unfair to the young families. Then again every thing is: home prices, utilities, food. What is Baseline?
Yes many reports attendance is down. The common response as to why people are not going to Disney? Well they have been priced out. Taking their money to cruises now. I have many friends who have gone on cruises recently or have them scheduled that are not regular cruisers. Alaskan cruises seem to be their hot choice. We're not regular cruisers, and we went on the first one we've done as a family two years ago. We were mostly put-off and aren't looking to cruise again anytime soon. That being said, if we were to, it would probably be an Alaskan cruise on a Disney boat.
