I noticed on the DVC site, that in the studios, the murphy beds at Riviera, GF, and Poly are all queen size. At Boardwalk, BC, and Boulder, they are all full size. On the site, the single pull down bed measurements are listed only for the BC and nowhere else (29" x 67"). With all/any of the upcoming refurbs, is there an attempt to put in murphy beds to all studios and get rid of the sleeper couch?

Yes, the murphy beds are replacing the pull-out sleeper sofas where ever possible. The top floor at BRV has slanted roofs so they weren't put into those rooms. OKW (1-bed and larger) is going to be an issue also with all the windows where the sleeper sofa is located.

OKW is going to be an issue also with all the windows where the sleeper sofa is located. We've wondered what they might do at OKW, especially the 1BR villas which have all those windows as you mention and I don't think there's a good wall where they could move the sofa/murphy bed option. But, it would be great to have a more comfy 2nd bed in a 1BR since I see it as a sleeping downgrade from the studios with their 2 real beds. Sure you get the kitchen and washer/dryer and more space with a 1BR but some poor sap (two saps) then has to sleep on a pull-out sofa while the other half luxuriate in a huge master bedroom and king bed. Not as much of a problem when you have young children who can (be told to) sleep anywhere but when your children become adult-sized (and bigger than you) or you're traveling w/ other adults, I feel for them being on that sofa sleeper but I'm not giving up the real bed, lol. For the studios, will they take out one of the queen beds and put in a queen murphy bed to provide more (and more comfortable) seating? Not sure if that would cause a revolt since two queen-sized beds in the studio is one of the nice things about OKW. Similar to the 1BR, for us it wouldn't matter because DH and I would get the bed and whoever's with us would get the murphy bed, lol. And, if they do decide to put murphy beds in for the one of the studio queens, I'd think demand for dedicated 2BRs vs. lockoffs would increase...at least I'd want that 2nd bedroom to have two "real" beds if I were booking a 2BR.

OKW 1-bd - that kitchen island that houses the TV could become a wall to house a murphy bed, make the wall a little wider than the current island. Kitchen still open to living room on both ends. Just thinking outside the box a little.
Or keep it the same, we don't want any more people getting any bright ideas about our resort becoming more desirable.

I wonder if it’s possible?

They could eliminate the loveseat and move the chair bed there. Put a regular sofa under the window and then the wall beside the large window could have a murphy bed that does not have an attached sofa.

Laura I did some modelling on that when we stayed there at Christmas. The wall isn’t wide enough to take a Murphy bed and if they altered the angle of the wall to make it wide enough, it would block the way out into the hall. I don’t think it would pass any fire safety code since the way out would be blocked. Any wall that is wide enough to have a Murphy bed would be wide enough for the over-the-sofa style.

I see that now. What about moving the dining table to that area. Is that counter space beside the patio doors large enough for a murphy bed without the sofa? Laura

Laura I think it would possibly take a double Murphy. Not a queen because I could reach across the alcove. And it would block the door out to the balcony when down.

We have this same problem. Our son (about to turn 18) is about 6'2", and he doesn't like the sofas any more. We bought an inflatable mattress and keep it in our owner's locker. But, he is always happy when we get a room with a murphy bed! (we always stay in 1BR size)
