A quick synopsis:
Wednesday--Quick service in Epcot/Japan. Average/decent. It was surprisingly busy.
Thursday--HBD Lounge for lunch. We don't really like the quick service options in DHS, so HBD Lounge has become our go to for lunch. We (DD, DW, me) share small plates and the Cobb Salad. Service is excellent. Danielle is one of favorite waitpersons (waitpeople??) in WDW. Dinner--California Grill--I'm not a fan of the prix fixe, but this was DD's request and she hadn't been there in many years. Great food, good service, cool view. Love those braised short rib wontons.
Friday--Pepe in Disney Springs for lunch. I think this has a slight edge over Polite Pig for me right now. It's a Jaleo-esque menu in a quick/counter service environment. Dinner at Skipper Canteen, which is my current "mid-range" WDW restaurant. Solid meal. Good service. No Jungle Cruise jokes (which I like).
Saturday--Boardwalk Deli lunch. Adequate. Flying Fish dinner. Excellent as usual. Stephanie, who's been there many years, waited on us and she was great.
Sunday--F&WF booths for lunch. Oysters Rockefeller (good flavor; clearly made a head of time so the cheese was a little hard and stuck to the shell), duck bao (very good) griddled cheese (yum), skirt steak taco (bland/mediocre). Dinner at Jaleo, which is right there with FF as my favorite dinner in WDW. We like the small plates/multiple course meals. The Florida citrus specials* were especially good.
* scallops with clarified gazpacho and Valencia oranges; 24 month cured serrano ham with summer melon and sherry dressing; Seard duck breast with peaches and Valencia orange glaze; Fords London Gin, Combier Orange Liquor, Orange Juice and Cava
After WDW, we spent Monday-Saturday at the Vero DVC resort. We've yet to find a "wow" restaurant in that area. My favorite place to eat is El Sid Taqueria in VB. If you like burgers, Casey's around the corner from El Sid, is a cool little walk up window with a bunch of shaded outdoor seating.
