One thing to be aware of is that once you upgrade you might need to rebook your park reservations for the remaining days. I mention this because there are some dates in December that are currently “sold out” for all resort guests at one or more parks. A CM should be able to switch your existing ones over, but you might need to escalate it and get someone with more authority. Good point. And I would amend this to say that you will need to rebook as they're tied to the tickets. So definitely do this at the time of bridging for the reasons nickys mentions.
Cheers.

On which note I will point out that MK is completely sold out now for Christmas Day, for all categories of guests. And I think NYE at MK is also sold out for some guests.
That could yet change though, they do sometimes add capacity nearer the time.

Neither. If a partially used pass, it will be for first day of use of the day tickets (unless lucky). There is no reason to wait until the last day. Actually there is: The final two days of our trip are AP blackout days so using an AP for the entire trip isn't possible. Unfortunately I was informed by DVC Member Services yesterday that they also won't allow you to bridge to an AP if the day you attempt to do it is an AP blackout day. The day in question for me is 12/22, which is an AP blackout day so it looks like I'm hosed.

Yes, blackout days totally hose things up. So sorry 😞

I'll be stopping by to request the AP bridge literally as we are leaving the park for the day on our final day, so it's not like I'll be attempting to re-enter under the AP I leave. Maybe their system simply won't allow them to process the bridge transaction? I figure I have nothing to lose by asking in person.

Most to try to bridge on their last day after they have entered a park do usually have good luck. However it's one of those things that I personally would avoid if I could because of legit reports about people not being able to bridge on their last day. But with blackout days I understand everything is totally different anyway. I agree that there is nothing wrong with trying though.

Not sure where you're planning to visit, but I've found the Guest Services folks at International Gateway to be excellent. If there is a way for them to manually work around this in a situation like yours, I would trust them to be able to find it.
Cheers.

I'll be exiting AK and visiting Guests Services there.

I didn’t try due to our plans changing and us deciding against doing the AP’s for now.
