It seems that we don't currently have a bridging thread here (at least not one that I could find), so starting one to see if this still works.
The idea here is that one can buy a discounted ticket on, say, UT, and then apply this toward an AP, or AP renewal.
If bridging works as it has in the past, the value of the ticket applied to the renewal is actually the full gate price rather than the discounted UT price.
Has anyone done this recently? It's been a while for us, and not since timed tickets went into effect.
Any experiences (or links to experiences) welcome.
Cheers.

Timely thread. My DD might want to do this when we go next month. I have never done it so how does it work? Use the first day and then bridge or go straight to GS before entering a park?

The ticket does not need to be used to upgrade. Expired tickets can be upgraded if they were never used. You can upgrade the ticket yourself, once it is linked to your My Disney Experience account. If you can’t get it to work, call Disney World ticketing directly at (407) 934-7639, during normal daytime business hours in Florida. Older tickets need to be done in person. Upgrading to DVC annual Pass will probably require a phone call or just do it at guest services at the Parks.....in my experience, the MK guest service CM's are the best.

Thanks Tom. I'm also talking to someone now about a non-expiring Hopper where days disappeared. Got through twice in like 2 minutes each time (first call dropped). The automated system mentioned an option for Annual pass renewals (this is from the DVC member number). Can they also process the bridged upgrade from a UT ticket to AP via that line?
I saw a ticket option where UT said it was $60 off gate price. When I priced the ticket myself, it was more like $94 off. I've not noticed UT to be off by that much, so maybe I'm doing something wrong since I've never bought a timed ticket? I picked start date, number of days and Hopper for both and I see a bigger difference. I'll likely call UT to conform before I buy it to make sure I'm interpreting things right.
But, if I can call via this number, it will be very easy. APs expire 9/22, so I think I can buy now.
Cheers.

Actually, another question as I've seen potential issues with this in the past. Can a ticket with Plus Options be upgraded to a regular Sorcerer Pass as long as none of the other entitlements have been used? Some of the deals are even better with this, but I want to be sure that they can be upgraded to Sorcerer.
Edit: I was speaking with Disney CS and he indicated that any ticket can be bridged to the AP, no matter the entitlements.
Cheers.

OK, having now gone through this, I will recount my experience. It did get done, but was semi-painful. it was 53 minutes and almost none of that was the original hold, so that's good.
It took 3 people. First person had to transfer me to a ticket person (I thought I was talking to a ticket person since I selected that option). second person took the details and checked on it. He told me that they "normally don't apply day tickets for renewals, only new passes, but maybe they could make an exception," and had to pass me to yet another person.
Sure enough, third person knew it could be done. but she pulled up the UT wholesale price (even less than what I had paid). When I mentioned bridging, she was not sure. She had to talk to a lead. Came back after a while and acknowledged that "AAA tickets" (I guess they look the same to them regardless of seller) show the lower amount, but that she had been told to override. So, it got done.
Meanwhile, the first person I spoke with earlier before I was ready to do this confirmed everything and probably could have done it all himself much more quickly.
Well, only once a year.
Cheers.

So I bought the FL 2 day ticket deal with fun and more option for DS (is a FL resident) and may upgrade to a Pirate FL resident pass. Can I do online or must go to booth? I have to check the price difference though, may not be worth it as he will prob only do like 6-8 days.
Also, does anyone know if the FL resident Pirate Pass include water parks? APs used to but I think, for some reason, that they don't anymore...right? Thanks!

I know it worked for the DVC Sorcerer Pass, so I would think that the FL resident Pirate could follow the same procedure.

I have a related bridging question. If you bridge to an annual pass at the end of your trip, does this mean that the annual pass is now activated?
For example, the last day of our upcoming trip is 12/22. When leaving the final park that day I intend to stop at Guest Services and have them bridge to a new annual pass. Will this day be the activation date for the annual pass or does that only occur whenever you subsequently enter a park for the first time with the annual pass?

I'm assuming that this is a new AP and not a renewal. If a renewal, then it keeps the same date. If a new pass, then I don't know the answer to your question, but just wanted to clarify.
Cheers.

If a partially used pass, it will be for first day of use of the day tickets (unless lucky). There is no reason to wait until the last day. While this shouldn't happen, some guests reported that they were told you have to have a day left to do the upgrade, so not wise to do it last day and worry about a fight when expiration date is based on 1st use. In short you cannot use tickets and bridge to a new unactivated AP. Expiration date likely will be first use of daily tickets.

One thing to be aware of is that once you upgrade you might need to rebook your park reservations for the remaining days.
I mention this because there are some dates in December that are currently “sold out” for all resort guests at one or more parks. A CM should be able to switch your existing ones over, but you might need to escalate it and get someone with more authority.
