So, R&C bar is #1 for my DH. We must always stop in there. Preferably, to him, we stop there first. He loves a snake bite. Back closer to Covid times it was a breeze to pop in there to get a drink and even stand around in there. But as the time passed it has gotten pretty crowded in there. You now have to cram in and work way to the bar with crowds about 2-3 rows deep. But usually moves somewhat fast. Sometimes you get lucky and one of the standing window tables empty as you are walking out and you can stand there in the AC a bit while drinking your drink. But I always assumed you move away from bar after you get your drinks. Like, you don't stand at the bar (no bar stools even) and casually drink your drink while chatting with your companions. You get drink and maybe stand off in corner by bathroom or stand at tables in windows. One time we even could sit in the restaurant (when closed...before 4pm). Or go sit outside by the outside bar cart.
Anyway, this weekend we went both Sat and Sun to see the British rock cover band, they call Command Performance, that plays in the UK (they are also the M-80's that play in American pavilion for the festivals sometimes...they are really awesome). So we pop in to get drinks for the show Sat and were standing behind a couple at the bar waiting for them to get served and leave and then we'd move up to the bar to order. We were waiting and waiting and realized they were just staying and drinking their beers leisurely. I guess with plans to just keep ordering and hanging out. Luckily we were able to slide over and the server knew we had been there longer than others who were coming up so she got us taken care of pretty quickly. Then we saw someone leave one of the tables in the window so we stood there so DH could run to the rest room and I'd hold our beers there while getting a few moments of AC. I watched that couple and they stayed there. DH came back and we left to see the show and that couple was still bellies up to the bar.
Sunday, we go in again and I looked around and noticed a couple groups lingering up at the bar. Never really thought of that bar like that. There are no stools and lots of people constantly coming in to grab a drink. Maybe pre covid days there was more a come and sit type vibe as I think there were stools way back. I can remember sitting in there for a couple drinks many years ago. But now it seems more of a carry out vibe, no? What say you?

I say I'll take whatever air conditioning I can get at all times. I'll of course try not to be a hindrance to others but I'll do what I need to remain comfortable.

These days, its about self entitlement over respect/courtesy of others. This is not young crowd or old crowd thing, its every age and everywhere.
I also agree that the band is good.
One of my favorite Epcot things to do is grab a beer, some fish-n-chips and go back and listen to the band playing back in the garden.

I was very pleased to grab that window table. So so hot on Sat. Sun was better. Still that FL humidity gets you. We really enjoyed it too. I wanted fish and chips so badly but am trying to eat healthier. Maybe one week when I can be extra healthy all week I can go get some on the weekend. I have been dying for them. But the shows in the back garden were really good. We always see the M-80s too so we likely will try to get to both as much as we can. Better than many of the famous festival bands.

We are on a healthy kick too, since March/April. Day-to-Day, we have been doing well....nothing crazy, just better portions, better choices, being more active. We are both down around 18 pounds since. But vacations and special occasions, we loosen up and enjoy the moment. These past few "summer" months have been mostly a maintain mode but September is nearing and we will be able to get into a better routine again. Getting old sucks.

We camped last evening in a county park (car accessible). They had little carts to take stuff up the hill to the campsites, about 1/4 away. We used ours, cleaned it out and returned it.
At the far end of the lot, someone had clearly used the cart, and then just left it there. mrs. brp went to retrieve it while I brushed my teeth. Not on;y had they simply left it, they had emptied trash from their car into it - cans, a twizzler and what she described as partially-melted gummy bears. Seriously?
Cheers.

Just several clumps of deer and a number of wild turkeys...
Cheers.

Ah, I must have been channeling years of backpacking where they drill it into your head that if you even looked at something resembling food, the bears will smell it on you and your life is over.

I've noticed the same thing happening at home. I'm honestly not the best person in bars anyway, but this has become a big annoyance of mine and keeps me out of places where people do that.

that’s gross, but would be my reply. Seriously! I just don’t understand people today. As Tom said, it doesn’t matter about age, not s young or old thing. Just a it’s my world and I will do what I want attitude.

Are you talking about the outside area of R&C? That is an area you order, and leave. Go find a seat elsewhere. What part of there are no bar stools doesn’t spell, order, leave move on?
People are just rude, today. I try to be a nicer person, except… if you are rude. I was in the market the other day and it was self check out. I saw the woman was done or I thought. I thought she had forgotten something, been there and had to go back in. No, she forgot to ring something out. I already moved into her space and she went to a kiosk. I felt really bad. As I was walking through the parking lot. I apologized to her, just thinking she had forgot something as she got off line. As I said I’ve been there. But it took me a minute to just say, hey I didn’t realize you forgot to ring something, I thought you were fine. Would have waited.
But I’ve been in a local place that during the season (we await Labor Day week end) is packed but even off season is busy. We sit at the bar. Some are there waiting for Seating to tables and texts their table is-ready. We know the bartenders and just do the scroll. You look you at who may look finished, may be getting take out. I never incumber or hover I know how to stalk two seats get them without intruding. The bartenders we know will eye us to let-us know who is cashing out. One night we were there, and a couple comes in by then empty bar seats. Sits next to us. I’m like wow, smells like skunk. I’ve had 5 GSD’s my second got one in daytime in our yard the day before Xmas Eve. I will never get over that smell.
Duh me, that’s why weed today is called skunk weed. That’s not what it smelled like years ago. Well no wonder why she could polish off the chicken, sausage, ricotta, sauce that I can get though half of it in a blink. But they looked like they were leaving a nice couple was waiting to seat. She politely said, are you getting ready to leave. The pot headed that smelled up the place was rude to her and said I don’t like being asked that, lady I’m sorry I just didn’t know…. No I’m serious, I don’t, blah blah. Well so much for the weed chilling someone. Point is you can be kind, nice when looking for a seat at the bar. Move out when someone needs to order. It’s just not that hard . I don’t want to say, to go the extra mile. Though it seems to have become one.

To the lest point- getting old may suck, but it beats the alternative.
We're also trying to do better. mrs. brp doesn't drink, and I've cut down. we've always been quite active, but now we've added more hiking and walking. Also yoga. Eating less and, as you say, better choices.
The "vacations" thing is tough as we're constantly doing some form of travel and, in moist cases, this has hotel/airline lounges with free items as well as on the plane. So that makes the overall equation tougher for me.
Cheers.
