So it looks like we are finally biting the bullet and making a stay at Riviera resort. We are in a 1 bedroom standard. I don't care about great views but any areas to avoid? We've spent a lot of time at RR visiting but not to stay.

When staying at Riviera, my only request is Near Skyliner since we are typically going to either DHS or Epcot from there.

We've spent a lot of time at RR visiting but not to stay. A friend had a stnd studio last week and their room was second flor, so the balcony was basically on a roof. If that's not something you'd want to see, I'd request a high floor.

Good points all around. I went and looked at the 2nd floor studio thing. Yeah not great. I am more worried about light or noise pollution. We bring fans for the latter, but lights seeping in aren't my favorite thing. The worst room we ever got was a 1 bedroom standard at BWV. HA and our bed butted against the elevator all while facing the clown pool. Hated that room. It was only maybe 2 nights so not a huge deal. We're only going for 4 nights to save on flights. We might have a more resort hopping heavy trip. We do like Epcot, but not so much at all for DHS.

We always book a standard room at Riviera. We always request high floor, closer to Skyliner or Lobby. Every room we have received had a view of fireworks and Epcot. You might have to look to the left, but you still see it.
The loading dock is further away from the Skyliner, hence our request.

Hey....Staying at Riviera is not like me biting the bullet and staying at the Poly. You know I like my 1-bedrooms.

Hey....Staying at Riviera is not like me biting the bullet and staying at the Poly. You know I like my 1-bedrooms. Funny you mention that. Someone asked if I would consider a PVB stay this coming summer since I don't have PVB on my schedule and I love it there. While we have done 2 connecting studios we always end with a stay in something larger. Mostly I've been doing PVB studios with my son for 3 or so night trips when it's just us. I cannot imagine doing that all week long though. Part of why I am super excited for 2025. Having 1 and 2 bedroom options will be amazing for us there. We'll probably stay there most and then toss in CCV every few years and maybe another here or there. I won't need other places. Still clueless on where to stay next summer. I think we have to decide in a couple months. Riviera just kind of reminds me of BLT in a way. Not my thing but we agreed to stay in all WDW DVC resorts (before the cabins come) and my kid really doesn't like the skyliner much. So I know it's not bad it's just... yeah. We'll be fine. I realize I know very little about the resort. Upper floors sound good to me! I hate heights but I always ask for high up when possible at most resorts (OKW being an exception)

The new Poly Tower will have me staying at the Poly. Even tough I feel it is not cohesive to the existing resort, it has the room type, view and amenities that I like.

Still clueless on where to stay next summer. I think we have to decide in a couple months. I am leaving my booking of my July 4th trip to fate. At the 7-month mark, I will book my 1-bedroom unit.

After reading this thread, I went back to MDE and selected Near Skyliner for our room request. I didn't see a option for a higher floor. We're only there one night pre-cruise. Is there any recommendations for 'must see'? My BIL said that is really nice tile work but he was underwhelmed by the lobby.

You can write into MS via email (under the contact us when logged in) or chat and request. That's what I'll do. Still clueless on where to stay next summer. Lucky you not having to worry about teenager input I am in the wait to see how the shoreline will look for the tower. I'm not as bent out of shape as many are with losing the awful luau (sorry but it was to me though I loved it in the 80s). But having 1 and 2 bedrooms in my favorite location.... Thrilled!

Surprisingly, we never saw a Luau at the Poly. We have been to Maui and saw two Luau.....one theatrical like Disney, the other more authentic. It did not bother me that the Poly Luau went away.
Yup...No kids that weekend.

We'll see what's free in 2 months and go from there. Otherwise I have OKW saved. Though I'd like to burn up a few CCV points. Try to avoid the parking lot view. My understanding is all of standard faces the parking lot. I'm cool with that
