So it looks like we are finally biting the bullet and making a stay at Riviera resort. We are in a 1 bedroom standard. I don't care about great views but any areas to avoid? We've spent a lot of time at RR visiting but not to stay. Very interested to see how you like it. One bedroom I am jealous! On our bucket list. We're spoiled rotten. Usually do 2 bedrooms after some lousy 1 bedroom and studio stays thanks to sofas. These murphy beds though are awesome. So kid can sleep in the living area and we'll have a king bed - which is what I'm used to at home (save sharing with cats which I swear takes up a ton of space). I realize I'm a bit anxious about this resort. I spend a lot of time at resorts but not near as much at Riviera as I'd like. I mean we were there all afternoon but still... I'm out of my comfort zone. I've done every resort at least a couple of times personally (outside of Ft Wilderness, that was a once only but lots of visits - want to redo the Segway tour soon!). So this will be weird for me.

Left side worse, right side is best for standard views. Getting the third floor and higher is good, top floors are the best.
We once had a room right over the Porte Cochere, like the 5th floor (maybe). No sound issues and we got to see Epcot Ball lit up and the fireworks.
Also, looking at this map, i realize that on our last Riviera stay that we got upgraded to a preferred view room.

I actually want a standard view for Epcot but that's weirdo me.
Does anyone know if the smoking section is close enough to the building to also cause issues? We were 4th floor standard view at VGF right above the area there and a few times I went inside due to the smell.

The second is in front of the Porte Cochere, to the right, as you are looking at the front.
I have never smelled smoke from those areas, while on the balcony.
I have smelled smoke at the Porte Cochere, if the wind is right.
I have not smelled smoke at Bar Riva.
I have smelled smoke along the walkways to/from the Skyliner, because people are entitled.
I have smelled smoke at the Bus Stop because people are entitled.

Thank you! Allergies are bad enough for me in March that I am cautious of that. I wouldn't dream of complaining about people in the right spot, but I was just surprised I smelled it at times on the 4th floor at VGF. Though I was literally right over the smoking spot. Just thought being high up I wouldn't smell. Unless it was someone smoking a couple floors below me too. Who knows. One of my biggest complaints at OKW is the one on the walkway towards the pool and boat dock. Hard to avoid. I avoid other places as I know it's me and not the fault of the smokers in correct spots.

I agree with Tom’s suggestions of high floor / near skyliner. Last visit we were 2nd floor on the left side of that map and the balcony was only tolerable when watching the fireworks.
I look forward to staying at Poly when the new tower is done as well! Love the 1 bedrooms with the Murphy beds. They’re amazing.
I had no idea the grand villas were located at the ends of those hallways. Are they 2 per floor? (One per hallway?) Do the grand villas over by the skyliner have a fireworks view? Or do you get a better fireworks view in a standard view on the right side of that map? Inquiring minds want to know!
