So, playing with the new dining thing more, I said, "Oh I know, do Chef Art Smith" So I see that place is still showing zero availability that I can see. I know it's been like that for a while, since covid anyways. All of the other restaurants at Springs are showing plenty of availability including today and tomorrow, yet Art Smith's is zero two months out. One of the hardest places to book even at 60 days out and even the day before tough to get late cancels too. Haven’t been since December due to difficulty booking. Never seem to find a time that works.

Never seem to find a time that works. See and that's what's odd because Chef Art Smith shows NOTHING open, zero, from today through Oct 27 (or whatever the last day on the calendar is). Yet you can click ALL the other restaurants at Disney Springs, including STK, Boathouse, Morimoto, Wine Bar George, and find openings this afternoon, this evening, tomorrow, whatever you want. It's as if Smith's isn't doing reservations through Disney.

I’ve eaten there twice (Chef Art’s) never had a reservation. First time party of 4, second time party of 2. That was in its early days and DFB was blogging about it and it was a must do. I guess I lucked out. Though we never went for dinner it was later lunch time. I’m just bad with planning especially 60 days out. I don’t know what I’m in the mood for that far in advance. Husband, tends to ask, aka bug me lol not 60 days out but before we are there to look at reservations. If we are there for our daughters bday, then I make ADR’s as she likes Flying Fish. Other than that, I tend to take my chances and go with the flow. But there’s many places I like, so if one’s not available I check the next. Some places that I loved are disappointing now. We went to Chefs De France last trip, had ADR’s for that. Uber ran late so hustled to get there. Hadn’t been in years. Back then we had a excellent meal, we were at a window seat and were able to run out for illuminations. The service was excellent. The server back when they were from the country of the restaurants origin, sent me via email several recipes I asked for. When we went last trip. Service was horrible, our server was nice enough but maybe just should not be a server. Food adequate, if I’m going for sit down service and paying for a higher end meal, adequate does not cut it. It was so noisy! I thought I was in a school cafeteria but it was worse. My sons principal would visit and remind the children to use their inside voices if it got to loud. I find if I want a sit down meal, we are better off at resort restaurants. If in the park since it seems one festival rolls into another. In the parks we can have a bit here and there. DS offers lots of choices, though will not do DS on weekend nights.

How many of us have been at WDW, fired up the app, and said, "Show me where I can eat dinner tonight"? Isn't it almost always, "I want to eat at <blank>, when are there openings"? In November '20 my BIL convinced me we had to have reservations to eat anywhere because of COVID so while waiting in line for Everest we searched for dinner reservations for the time we were there but then we only went to half of them. BIL went to all of them. Usually, as long as we can get a salad from the QS we're good because neither of us likes to be too full.

Just did during my last 2 trips. I was curious to see what was open for lunch at like 10am at DHS and found 50s at noon or so. Done it at MK though we also add in local resorts. I hate overplanning and often not picky, but looking for a little less greasy than QS usually offers (salads aren't usually options now for me due to stupid crap or I'd eat them all the time)

We have occasionally done this. But we do so few ADRs (at most 1/trip) that I likely wouldn't notice a change. Between various happy hours and nice QS-like places at DS, we're all set. And Bluezoo is easy to get, even on Opentable. We will do Jiko again at some point, so may have to scramble. Cali Grill is out unless they change back to a normal menu. Flying Fish is not that hard. And that's about it.
Cheers.

I had to battle it today. I wish there was an easier return to the main menu vs. going out and choosing MDE again.

I have a bone to pick with the tech writers for the Disney webpages. I was just perusing the list of restaurants on the new-ish "Dining Availability" thing. When viewing the entire list, it is alphabetical order, EXCEPT somebody put Boathouse, Crystal Palace, Diamond Horseshoe, Edison, Brown Derby, Plaza Restaurant, and Turf Club all in between Terralina and Tiffins. Apparently, they are all "THE Boathouse" and "THE Crystal Palace" and "THE Brown Derby".
I suppose now all the same people who told me "two spaces at the end of a sentence" is wrong, will now tell me about how the rule where you ignore "The" at the beginning of a title for alphabetical reasons is no longer correct. Because the written language is just going down down down and there ain't no stopping it.

The changes that Disney IT makes are not always great. That is surely the case here.

Well I ran across a list of restaurants in two other locations in the Disney pages, and the above restaurants are still labelled "The Diamond Horseshoe" etc except this time, they alphabetized it correctly. So now I'm not sure that makes me feel any better...the fact that it isn't consistent everywhere.

Cheers.

Hmmm...Where would the band "The The" go? (either under 'T' for "The or 'T' for "The"...not sure...) I used to know a music guy who would discuss with me about whether to alphabetize using or ignoring the "The". Such as what to do with things like "the Beatles" and "the Monkees", which tend to get labeled as "Beatles" and "Monkees", mostly because they are household names. Then he brought up "the The". He gave me some of their music, which I put on my computer as "The, the". The word "the" has gotten me into sticky spots on the computer; first one that pops into my mind is "The Best" by Tina Turner. My brain (I'm sure I'm not the only one) knows that song as "Simply the Best" but it turns out the actual title is "The Best". My rule makes it "Best, the" which looks stupid but rules are rules.

In a similar vein, I get mildly annoyed when I'm looking for a resort in a list, can't find it, then realize "Old Key West" is actually listed under " Disney's Old Key West," or the Contemporary Resort is " Disney's Contemporary Resort," but then Bay Lake Tower is then listed under "Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort!" Arg!

I once taught filing at a business college about thirty-five years ago. The indefinite and definite articles (a, an, the) are not to be used when alphabetizing, so that's how I roll. I also use the Oxford comma and double-space after end marks.
