If we fly Contour out of Cape Girardeau to Nashville then change to Southwest for our flight to Orlando, we could save ourselves from driving to St. Louis and having the long drive to and from STL. How hard is it to get from Concourse A to Concourse C or D? If I remember, it's not a huge airport. Anyone know?

I haven't been through Nashville for a connection but do fly in/out a fair amount on both United and Southwest. The airport itself is smaller and generally easy to navigate. They have been under construction for quite awhile and things are changing. When they added Concourse D they split the airport into two terminals, North (containing Concourses A and B) and South (containing Concourses C and D). If both your gates are in the same terminal then it is a quick and easy walk. If you need to switch terminals it is still a pretty easy walk but may require you to exit security for one terminal and enter security again for the other. I did some exploring not too long ago and saw this was the case. I don't know if this was related to the construction or if it is their ultimate plan, but it is something to be aware of. Security is pretty efficient here, and I don't think it has ever taken me more than 10-15 minutes to get through the line.

We will have to go from one terminal to another with a 2-hour space of time to get our luggage and check in again. I have been transferred flights there before, but it was southwest to southwest. I do remember it being smaller, but I didn't know with the new construction if it was difficult to navigate from terminal to terminal. Thanks again.

Nashville airport is fun! Live music and bars throughout. It's a great airport for a layover.
I still wouldn't recommend this tho. These are two final-destination flights, so if the first one gets delayed, you are out of luck and lose the second one. What's the savings? A 2-hour drive to STL is not great, but it'll take you an hour flight and hour at the CGI airport plus that 2-hour layover so it's not like it's saving you time. You're subject to the discount airline bag fees, too.

You're subject to the discount airline bag fees, too. That is my worry. Contour only flies two flights a day from Cape to Nashville and two return flights. If we're counting on the second return flight and we miss it, we're stuck in Nashville for the night, not that it's awful, just inconvenienced a lot. We probably will drive to STL and although it's only an hour and 45-minute drive, it means leaving 4-hour before our flight. Not awful if we have an afternoon flight, but this last trip we had an 8:05am flight, and getting up that early was too much.
