I posted this first in stupid questions then realized there was an entire board dedicated to ticket questions. I deleted the post from there and moved it here. My sincere apologies to the moderators if this was not the correct process...
I am hoping for some details on how theme park tickets work these days. We have AP's and have not purchased tickets in a very long time. We are taking the family for a week in early December and we are getting the tickets for everyone. I am not sure how many days to get and have no idea what kind of flexibility may exist (if any) to modify a ticket after the fact. So here are my questions:
o If I buy too many days and figure this out while we are there, is there any way to get credit or something for the days they won't be using while still in the window the tickets are valid? o If I don't buy enough days is it easy to add on a day or so mid-ticket? Or would we need to buy additional single day tickets?
Thanks for any help or advice you may have! Feels like I should know this...

Pretty sure you can't delete/drop days from a multi-day ticket. But I know it's pretty easy to add days, so long as you do it before the last day (and even then they'll often make an exception to the rule and let you add on an extra day)....I always buy UT tix for my non-AP-holding family members. We've added on days multiple times (including since COVID reopening)...never tried to drop a day, but I'll bet you a hot fudge sundae that you can't do that....good luck!

Sounds like the best option would be to buy less and add on if needed.

Stupid question thread is good for this too. Either way works.
To confirm you cannot remove days, only add. And you cannot add if you have used up all of your days.

I did this a few years back and found a great deal on visitorlando.com. Either UT or VO will sell discounted tickets which days or the PH option can be added.

I was about to ask a similar question, so I appreciate the advice upthread. However:
- If I read you correctly @helenabear, you can only add days to a ticket *on your final day*? Your post indicates you have to use all of your days first.
- Does this change if you purchased your tickets as part of a package? Long story but my parents have a grandchild in their room on a coming trip. The parents want to add two days to their ticket but their travel agent says if they do so beforehand, they have to add for the grandchild too (who will be leaving town, so it's wasted money). Could they add to *just* their tickets if they do so in person?
Thanks!

How on earth did I miss that. Sorry. I never buy packages to know about tickets but likely doing in person is the right way to do it no matter what.

I'll go searching for package info - I know this isn't probably the right forum since we're all DVC folks....

Thank you! Sounds like the best option would be to buy less and add on if needed. Yes, that is correct. You can always add more days to your ticket at Walt Disney World, up to a total of ten days. The only minor thing to be cautious of is park reservations. If you are going during a busy time it is possible that there will be no reservations available for the dates you would like to add to your ticket. However, park reservations will be going away for date-based tickets beginning January 9, 2024. (Annual pass holders will still need to make reservations.)

I've been a little busy building a few websites from scratch for volunteer work in addition to other stuff. My brain has been mushy LOL. Anyway, my gut says as long as they wouldn't get a better deal by adding earlier, I'd just do it in person. Just make sure they decide before that last day is used. Once they tap in on last day you cannot add to it. Now time for sleep LOL

I can’t say for sure about adding a day on your last day, but we have upgraded from hopper tickets to APs on our last park day before. As long as you are still in the park and go to guest services there, it should be fine. And I would wait and make changes to those tickets in person. Always better to work with guest services in person for that stuff.

We were told this in 2018 with my dad too. Not sure why as DL I believe they give you more time. I personally wouldn't risk waiting until the last day for adding a day seeing it stated on a few sites dated this year. I'd also look to see if you can online now due to those upgraded first.
