Curious if it works for you guys. We've been able to a few times but unable to a couple times too. Like today, at BCV, the notification popped up on my phone at 8:30am saying 'are you ready to check out'. So I waited until we left the room with all our stuff and pushed it. It went to this long message in MDE about the ways you can check out. But didn't have the button anywhere to check out. Even when I tried going back to my hotel thing on MDE and looking for check out, it was nowhere.
How often and at what resorts has it worked for you guys?
Also our bands did not work on door yesterday. and desk person said she could not find me with my band. Odd since I had just used it to get into Epcot and to ride Guardians. She fixed the hubby's but couldn't fix mine and gave me a keycard instead.

Last time we went, we were having a lot of trouble with room charging suddenly not working on our bands. Had it fixed a couple times, then next day it didn't work again. Somebody said something about multiple reservations; I did have that trip pieced together from lots of individual days I hunted in the rat. And that was the first time (for me) that after I emailed Member Services, they basically wrote back with a canned response saying "Reservations do not need to be combined anymore" or whatever they said. I don't know if it was that or not.
As for checkout - the last several years we have just left the room, closed the door behind us, and drove away without doing any kind of checkout procedure. I figured it was the natural evolution, just like we don't check in anymore, we just show up and open the door and are on vacation.
I guess we do online check in. But they allow you to do that so crazy early that to me it doesn't feel like checking in.

I've never noticed any notification on my phone about checking out. Quite often I get the knock on the door around 8:30. Depending on how cordial I feel, I may tell them "I'm going to put the sign on the door, then when I leave I'll take it in so you'll know." Or if we have an early morning flight, and I have the time and inclination, I'll call housekeeping just before we leave to let them know.

It's mostly worked but sometimes not. I do it when it does and don't stress too much if it doesn't.

Just went onto the wdw website and looked at my bands and tickets and my band that she could not find is missing from the list. I tried to re link it with the numbers on back and it said no band could be found. I do have 2 other bands on there so I am switching to one of those I suppose. Just not sure what happened when I had just used it at Epcot. Odd.

We usually get the notification to check out. After the room is clear and doubled checked, I’ll check out on the app. You should have seen a pop up after clicking on My Resorts. But this is Disney IT. On a side note, HK was not knocking at our door at 8:30 this trip. In June, they knocked at 8:30 and were hovering until we left.
I had a problem last week when we transferred from OKW to the Boardwalk. My magic band wouldn’t open the door, but DH’s did. They reset it at the front desk and it was fine after that.
That is very weird your band disappeared from MDE.

It never actually occurred to me to check out at Disney. There is no key to return, so we have always just left. If I see housekeeping in the hall, I'll point out that we are gone, but that's it. Typically we check our bags and go to a park on the last day anyway (SW flights from BHM are always early AM or late PM).

I've never thought about checking out when we leave. If we see housekeeping in the hallway, I let the know we are leaving. The only time I had to check out is when I had two separate reservations - maybe points from two different contracts. We were staying in the same room, but they wanted us to check out of the first reservation and in to the second reservation so we didn't have magic band/charing issues.

Come to think of it, I don’t check out. I also don’t use online check in. Too many stories of people getting to their room having to trek back because mb doesn’t work. I get there, I’m fine going to the front desk, being greeted. Making sure MB all who are with us, they work and since moving. I don’t know where my mb’s are so just give me a key card, thank you. On check out day, I just leave. Though many a times with knocks from housekeeping early. We usually do not leave b/f 11 check out time. I just usually say, we will be out by 11, hint, hint. I have always received email invoice. When we would stay at Marriott in Daytona. Earlier years, you would have a paper invoice, that was slipped under your door. I guess while we were still sleeping, because I would awake to a slip of paper. Now I just get a final invoice emailed to me. There I usually stop by the front desk. To say goodbye, it’s very much a family, friends atmosphere with the employees there from kids who went to college and parents always stayed. I let them know I’m out so they can send housekeeping up. Especially if I requested later check out which Marriott allows according to the status level you have. Plus I turn back in my key cards.

I've tried to check out via the app but it never allows me to click on the button check out. When we fly and are waiting around the resort to leave for the airport I will check out at the desk. I figure housekeeping appreciates the notice it's empty and can get in there. When we drive home and leave between 4-5am from the resort I don't go to the desk because we want to get on the road. I tried checking out via the app while on the road but it seemed to automatically check out at 11am. I never got any app prompts or notifications to check out.
