Moana journey of water opening Oct 16th. Moana will meet in Epcot too.
Figment meet & greet starts tomorrow.
Hatbox Ghost comes late November - missing the Halloween parties. SMH lol!
At AK, It’s tough to be a bug will be replaced with a Zootopia show.
Dinoland is replaced with Tropical Americas, with Encanto as part of it. Indy will replace the Dinosaur ride.
More blue sky thinking for Mk - Beyond Thunder Mountain but nothing concrete.
New Epcot show is called Luminous and debuts Dec 5th (?)
Ashoka coming to Star Tours next year.
And a new cruise ship named Adventure.
And a “new” POTC tavern (which I assume will replace Tortuga).
Plus Test Track being reimagined with Chevrolet and some World of Motion touches.

Great summary, Nicky! Not bad, but nothing worthy of imminent excitement either.

Seems the word is the potc tavern will go into the pirates league. Makes sense, they can more easily sell alcoholic beverages and make sure no one wanders out with one in hand. Tortuga would need to be closed in more.

A rather lack luster D23 this year. Which is not surprising considering the money problems disney is facing right now.
You forgot to mention the refurb and reimagined Country Bears.
I am happy to see Test Track is going back to its earlier look. Parts of the Tron overlay I liked, parts of it I missed.
Dinoland overhaul is still in bluesky, so there is not much to say about it. I like the Dinosaur ride, I also like the Indy ride (I know its the same ride). I wish the ride was more popular, but it's not so change is needed. Honestly, I can see this possibly working out as a good replacement.
More alcohol coming to MK. Some will be upset with it, some will shrug it off. Personally, I am ok with it. The Club lounge in MK has a bar and serves alcohol with no issues..... this could too.
No mention of the other cruise ship that Disney is going to be building.

How could I forget the Bears? 😁
But yes, the Adventure. That was the funniest part of the presentation - which was dire. The new “Signature Services” VP fluffed his lines big time. It was one word but completely changed the meaning.
What he said “Families will be able to go on an adventure like any other”. He then corrected it to “Families will be able to go n an adventure unlike any other”.
😂😂
And I left out the international parks and even DL too - the new Avengers ride? Although I was left very confused by that, at one point I thought the guy was talking about a video game.

Thanks for the recap! I somehow did not put 2 and 2 together about Zootopia replacing Bug....I was excited, as I love Zootopia, but also hate to lose Tough to be a bug. LOVE that show.. Love all the signs in the queue. Oh well. I also would've been happy if Zootopia had taken over Dino Land, but I love this idea of a South American themed area, hopefully can get lots of animals also, maybe have a walking animal trail. I only went to Disneyland once, in 2002, and one of my only real memories is loving the Indy ride, so would love it coming to WDW.
Happy that Bears will get a refresh, we haven't been to that show in I dont' know how long, maybe 15 years. Maybe new songs will help. Would also be ok w a replacement/retheme throughout all of the area.
Glad for a test track re-do. Last time I rode, I said it would be my last. I hate all that jerky stopping/starting/swerving in the start of the ride. The end is a blast, and we love making the cars. We used to have a good rivalry in the family on who would win, kids got great at finding the perfect balance. Last few times have just gone crazy making wacky cars. Somehow managed to get a negative number on efficiency. Didn't know one could get a negative. Anyway, happy to hear it's getting re-imagined!
Can't wait for Ahsoka scenes on Star Tours. but just wish you could request that. As much as I love SW, Like C-3PO, I always forget how much I hate space travel....that ride makes me so, so queasy. I would not want to have to ride multiple times just hoping I get the new scenes.
Thanks for sharing all the info!

I am happy to see Test Track is going back to its earlier look. Parts of the Tron overlay I liked, parts of it I missed. We did TT twice this past weekend (single rider, of course) and, while I still enjoy it, I'm also ready for some changes. Would also like to see the previously-mentioned Spaceship Earth redo but that, from what I understand, is on indefinite "hold." when human technology ends with Wozniak, it's tims for changes. Dinoland seems like wasted space. They could redo all of it, as long as they leave Dinosaur pretty much alone. More alcohol coming to MK. Some will be upset with it, some will shrug it off. Personally, I am ok with it. The Club lounge in MK has a bar and serves alcohol with no issues..... this could too. I'm in the "don't care" space. Once it started more doesn't matter. I don't drink in parks (maybe occasionally at Epcot, so this is a NOP for me. Cheers.

Not the biggest announcement from D23, but limited time return of Soarin’ being reported on WDWMagic - Starting September 22, Soarin' Over California will return to EPCOT's The Land pavilion.

This is the best news yet! We rode Soarin' 3 times on this trip and missed the original. So much of the current one is clearly CGI. California had more real content, or so it seemed, and more variety.
it would be nice if there was a choice by theatre, since they have 3.
Cheers.

Tortuga would need to be closed in I missed any mention of alcohol. If it’s there and there’s someplace indoors or at least in shade to sit, I’m pleased. Excellent news, indeed. Better if it was a permanent option. Agreed. And, now I'm hoping as hard as one can hope that the "limited" run goes through at least mid-year 2024 so we can have the CA version for our June trip. :-) The CGI scenes in World are very distracting to me as is the "leaning tower of Eiffel." They take me out of the experience, almost as much as the jarring transitions between completely different areas of the world (at least w/ CA you're jumping to different areas of one state). Last time we visited DLR, they had Soarin' Over California and we were reminded how much we missed having it in Epcot. With 3 theaters, I'd love to see two be CA and the other to be World, even if for Disney to measure popularity; I've seen some propose a random option like Star Tours but I'd be disappointed if I waited to ride (assuming a wait) wanting to soar over CA and wound up seeing the world instead. My hope is ride numbers for the limited CA run tell Disney that they should keep it for an "unlimited" run.

My wife is pretty afraid of the Soarin' ride itself, but she would go for the California movie - with the "World" movie we don't even bother.

My wife is pretty afraid of the Soarin' ride itself, but she would go for the California movie - with the "World" movie we don't even bother. I love Soarin but I also had a problem with my fear of falling. (Not heights as such, but falling out - which is why I can ride Big Thunder and love it but not Slinky). On our last trip I had a brainwave and used the strap through the buckle. I felt a bit self conscious at first when I did it up but it made all the difference. I wasn’t gripping the arm rests in a desperate attempt not to slip. It was a game changer! Maybe Mrs Adelard would feel happier using the kiddie strap - just don’t call it that!

I just don't know why they cant run both movies. There are enough screens that they certainly could do this.
