We've always enjoyed the nighttime parades (I'd pick Spectro over MSEP); we sat on those brick planters in front of HoP, got there early; the kids would ride HM or something in Fantasyland. The downside to that spot was getting from there to somewhere we could see the fireworks. We'd usually take the route through fantasyland, to the teacups, then hang a right and make our way to anywhere in front of the castle we could find some space. Although I do miss those parades, it is much easier now to just get a fireworks spot 60-90 minutes before they start. Yeah, I’m not staking out a spot 90 minutes ahead of time. 40-45 minutes at most. I love fireworks, but I don’t have the patience for that.

After I hit "post" I realize that there is almost zero chance in hell you would be watching either of those firework shows......lol.

I'll do across some water or something, a cruise or the like. But that's it.

I would LOVE to see Spectromagic again. Just wondering, does anyone know where it is? I wasn’t kidding when I said it was scrapped. Instead of putting the floats into the sheds at MK they were left Nader giant tarpaulin tents, which meant they rusted in the humid conditions. And consequently the floats were deemed beyond repair. I'm speechless! I hate that they wasted so much money after creating such wonderful floats. Oh well-at least I still have a copy of the parade music.

New Years Eve, you can remove the “almost,” and leave it at zero percent. We’ve actually done July 4th. Once. It was phenomenal! But I told my family that if we ever decided to do July 4th again, it would be from Club Level TPV at the Contemporary, standing on my own balcony without the masses! We had actually planned that trip for the two of us, but, Covid. I traveled nowhere from February 2020 - September 2021.But I’m alive and well and can complain about it, so it’s all good! It’ll happen. Eventually…

One day you will have grandbabies and that week might be the only week you can take them to Disney. You never know.
Ironically, we didn't really miss a beat with traveling.....no covid. In fact, Covid didn't go through our office of 12 people. That is until last week, when one of the guys came in Monday with covid and by Saturday, half the office had it. At least we got the tame version.

It’ll happen. Eventually… We were stranded from traveling due to quarantine restrictions of our state in 2020. Our March trip was cancelled on us as Disney announced the closure days before we were to leave. The HS marching band had to turn around in WV and come home. Disney was still closed in June 2020 so that was cancelled on us too. Gave up trying that summer due to the restrictions. We were back in June 2021. Our in laws refused us to visit them so last time we saw them was 2019. Their loss now. But I get it. We were unable to travel for a while due to stuff out of our control. You might want to swe what Polyneisan will have to offer. Views of the MK are better there IMO. Hopefully they'll have a GV or two that face MK. That's lucky on how long that was! Glad it seems mild for all. We had a mass outbreak at camp last summer. Sent everyone home and more than half the campers tested positive (spouse had had it a month prior so he was good but kid tested positive but asymptomatic). Some were really sick unfortunately. A family trip was canceled after but fortunately once kids started testing positive the dad made sure he had trip insurance. It was a hot mess. I'm wondering when my luck will run out personally. Just better not be the 1st week of Oct lol

I still have not had it, and mrs. brp had a mild case a few years back. When travel was difficult (like certain states wouldn't allow us in) or we had to test coming back from Europe, we curtailed things a bit- although we did go to London and test to come back right before that changed. The biggest impact for us was going to fewer concerts, simply because they weren't happening. Next booster time next month. And keep it rolling.
Cheers.

I'm wondering when my luck will run out personally. Mine ran out at the beginning of this August, first time. Basically I had a really bad cold with some flu symptoms and big-time tiredness that persisted for over two weeks...or maybe that's just me getting old, who knows.

Basically I had a really bad cold with some flu symptoms and big-time tiredness that persisted for over two weeks...or maybe that's just me getting old, who knows. Sorry you were sick so long. Most of my friends have been mild who had it this summer. Quite a few like me finally tested positive this summer. I keep hanging in somehow. I only mask when asked for medical stuff (most just suggest, not require but I figure be nice to to them, won't hurt me) or when I fly to help my sinuses since it seems to keep my sinuses better (prone to bloody noses and sinus pressure when flying otherwise). I'm out and about a ton - indoors and out so not actively avoiding either. I even had a stupid parent expose a bunch of us because she thought the kid had "just a cold" Granted I don't actively test if exposed and no symptoms though. Last in my house standing. Spouse had last summer during our blackout in 100 degree temps. Super mild. Kid tested positive a month later with an outbreak at camp with zero symptoms. He was released after testing negative. So tick tock here lol I do have my annual shots taken care of though. Moved flu up a week of so due to upcoming travel. Just got the latest covid too. About all I can do outside of waiting to see if I ever do test positive. Haven't tested in a year though (no need, no colds)

My inability to travel had nothing to do with my personal health, thankfully. I couldn’t travel with a clear conscience due to my exposure to Covid patients. I didn’t even go to Wal Mart, except during the special hours set aside for healthcare/frontline workers. I was thankful when there was adequate access to vaccines. At that point, it was everyone’s choice to be protected or not. So, I felt like I was free to travel again.

Basically I had a really bad cold with some flu symptoms and big-time tiredness that persisted for over two weeks...or maybe that's just me getting old, who knows. I know the "getting old" thing. I got a cold a week or so ago. It was never bad, but it lingered (mild sore throat, cough) for like a week. That just didn't used to happen. I even tested at one point, but was negative and still have not gotten Covid. I only mask when asked for medical stuff (most just suggest, not require but I figure be nice to to them, won't hurt me) or when I fly to help my sinuses since it seems to keep my sinuses better (prone to bloody noses and sinus pressure when flying otherwise). I mask when I go into hospitals as there are sick people there and they are potentially contagious. I realize I should have been doing this all along.
Also, during my recent bout, I was masking at the hospital for everyone else as well when I went for a physical. Also for indoor events during this time. I am a very sharing person. Some things I'd rather keep to myself.
I really wish more people masked when sick with anything.
Cheers.

Ours obviously was partially because everything was closed when we planned to travel and then stupid state quarantine requirements. Spouse couldn't miss 2 weeks and unable to WFH at that time due to a guy quitting (not covid related). School had requirements too for a long time, which just had us go "meh, we can wait until school is done for the year" which is what we did. We would have visited in-laws but they're pooh pooh heads so no rush there. Now they moved and well, that's a whole other story. We did lots locally though. Cheers. A friend of mine having surgery and needed help, caused me to mask for a while earlier. She asked, I obliged. If visiting in the hospital I might as well. I fortunately haven't had a need as of late. Same with nursing homes, I'd do that likely if I had a need, but before covid I'd be careful about visiting with a cold anyway. I don't get worked up over wearing them, but do prefer not most times. If I think I have a cold and good enough to be out, I could wear one too. Just hasn't happened yet. Last time was a sinus infection and wore just to be nice to others, but that was over a year ago. Now that I don't personally have to shove that stupid test swab up my brain if I do test positive, I worry a lot less. those were bad enough having well trained people doing it, I didn't want to do it myself LOL

One NYE long, long ago, my sister and I were driving the cars on the Autopia (or whatever the Tomorrowland cars are called in WDW) as the finale for the fireworks show was happening. It was something to behold, that's for sure. Good view, if you can get it! That's great. This summer we rode Mine Train during the fireworks show. It was awesome. My brother-in-law had the same experience from Astro Orbiter. He said it was amazing.
