We successfully returned from our 6D cruise and, while it was fun - so enjoyable!, it was long for us.
DH's brother and his wife had been trying to talk us into a this September cruise since they booked it. September! Storms and Heat! On a whim I tried to see if I could make it work 7 weeks out and, with Sunny Day Travel's Linda's assistance, we cobbled it together. We found flights on SW on points and DVC pre/post cruise nights.
If you ever get in the same situation don't hesitate on doing the GTY with DCL. We were assigned a stellar cabin. It was designated handicap but the only thing it had was space - no grab bars anywhere and a normal height toilet (this is only mentionable because I'm short - no TMI intended). We sailed on the 'rickety' Fantasy and it was the most vibrating ship we've cruised but nothing crazy. We were pretty sure the ship was moving around weather, especially in Caymen's, plus there was a medical problem they had to hoof it to Key West to offload a passenger. Sleeping Aft was no problem. Two nights we felt we'd put too many nickels in the bed but there didn't seem much of a noise component - just vibrating. We're reserved for November 2024 on Fantasy 4D to Lighthouse Point and Castaway. I was asking all the crew if they thought they'd still be there. Many of the crew was from Wonder and most would like to return. Wonder what happened with the Wonder as I thought it was doing the Alaskan route. Oh well. We always enjoy the crew and the Fantasy didn't disappoint.
We saw the new Haunted Mansion. I spent half the film with goosebumps. DH said it thought it was choppy and slow. We rode the flume ride. We played bingo. We attended 5 out of 6 MDR (found the food matched Wish, so much improved IMO), watched football at the Pub, went to Oo La La for a wine tasting and had a drink at the Meridian. I have only one cruise bucket-list item remaining.
Pre-cruise we stayed at our last untried DVC resort, Riviera. It was very nice and very similar to GF. If anyone is interested in Topolino's (after all the searching/modifying for dinner reservations), we discovered when it opens at 5p you can walk up, sit at the inside bar and have full access to the menu without needing a reservation. The CM cancelled our dinner reservation and told us to go up. We enjoyed the bar with an appy and took our drinks out to the terrace. The small bar on the terrace was closed but we sat outside with our drink and then caught the Sky ride to Epcot.
Post-cruise we enjoyed a SSR 1BPV. We assumed we'd be in Congress but we were just down from the main building in the Springs. Nice location.
