Hey guys.
This is very early prep (as in at least 24 months early...).
We believe Audrey would like to return to Aulani for her Graduation present from us. She just started her Sophomore year so we have some time.
We went in 2017 and were at Aulani on Halloween and into the first week of Nov. Weather was lovely and it seemed like all possible things we wanted to do were available...except.. Whales.
As I read this the Prime Time for the Whale Migration is Dec - May. Not great for a Graduation present ...
What would your thoughts be on the best time to visit Aulani?

We’ve been to Aulani 3 times, always in early September. The first 2 were a Mr/Mrs trip. The 3rd visit was with the 4 kids and their spouses. September was good for us on many fronts. One of our sons works in the NHL world and a DIL has a work schedule that necessitates her traveling during the summer. So, September is our sweet spot. The weather was excellent and the resort crowd was more than manageable. However, all these trips were taken within the last 10 years, all pre Covid, so that may need to be taken into consideration. I think most points that were banked in the system have been utilized by now (perhaps). We got GoOahu cards, via Costco, and had no issues booking excursions for the 12 day trips. The climate was dry-minimal rain- but as we know, that is a fluid situation. No whales on the north shore, but turtles everywhere. We intend to get back there in 2024. It’s a great spot.

We were in Maui early April this past year and whales were abundant. We could easily seem them spouting just offshore from the beach.
Personally I like going in February for low-season but it may not be the best weather. Cooler than normal and more likely to rain. I also like early November but less chance of seeing whales.
The weeks after Easter (but not the first week of May as that is Golden Week in Japan and usually a busy time for Japanese tourists in Hawaii) would probably be ideal weather, still some whales and lower crowds (and cheaper flights).

What would your thoughts be on the best time to visit Aulani? Our 2 DDs have both graduated HS and one has graduated college. The other DD will graduate next spring. May I make a suggestion to travel for her graduation gift at a time that is not too close to the actual graduation date? Graduates are very busy attending senior activities, prom, graduation parties for their friends, relatives in town, etc. Audrey will likely not want to be away at that time anyway. We have traveled to Oahu (not Aulani) and Maui many times. We find February and early March to be wonderful times to visit! She will likely be able to miss a bit of school because she will have already selected her college or post graduate plans. Just a thought. Happy planning!

I am the issue. As the board president of a large trade group and then my role at my company mine is the most limited time for travel..that generally leaves me September, November into early December, and May.

We have been to the Islands twice.....October and July. October was better of the two dates. The best time to see the whales is noted above.
Two years is really so far out for her graduation. So many other life changing events between now and then.
She might have the Europe travel bug like her dad by then.
