In case you've ever wanted to get Companion Pass -- right now / end of October is the optimal time to get started. Apply for the Biz card, get 80K points. Apply for the Personal card, get 50K points. Both come with this bonus if you complete a spend in 3 months. Apply now, get the cards in about 10 days. Then your 3rd billing cycle will end around mid-January, which is perfect. Spend $5K and $1K on them by January (but not too soon - you don't want to hit the thresholds early and ruin it). You'll score CP for the rest of 2024 plus all of 2025. You need to have good credit. This means one person flies completely free everywhere you fly for ~2 years. (technically $5.60 per leg) We got CP in 2 weeks last year. That's hard but if you plan it out it is doable. If you use this link, I'd get referral points... www.referyourchasecard.com/226f/G8EQ01HR6NStrategy on how I did it... magicowners.com/thread/139/companion-pass-2-weeksI've explored changing my companion this year and that worked out great. My wife is usually the lucky traveler, but I changed to my son for one of my trips with him, then changed back to my wife. You can change 3 times per calendar year. Any questions ask! We've done this twice now and CP is the best travel perk in existence. * Companion not included.

This has been our blueprint to get Companion status for years. For frequent flyers on SWA, the companion pass is one of the best money saving deals out there. I can not even begin to add up all the money we have saved over the years with the companion pass. For 2024, we will probably earn around 13-15 free flights.

This is how I initially got my companion pass about 4 years ago, and since then I've just "naturally" qualified for the companion pass on my SWA card for the past few years. Just got the e-mail a few days ago that I'm good for 2024 also. Yes, companion pass has saved us literally thousands of dollars over the years. It's a way better CC perk, value-wise, than anything else I've ever had, by far.
With the companion pass, our WDW AP, and our DVC membership, the marginal cost of a trip for my wife and I to visit WDW from Colorado is just airfare for one + food. (And sometimes a rental car, depending on where we're staying.) At that point, we can't justify *not* going lol!

It makes DIsney so affordable! When you're staying on points, flying on points, and have an AP there's very minimal per-trip cost - just food & entertainment. I want to get to A-List but I find it's not really compatible with my spending habits... you have to buy revenue flights, and we don't do that. Or you need a super high spend on your SWRR card.. (35K TQ points at 1500/$5K would require a $100K spend). I don't put even close to that on my SWRR card. The perks are better on my Chase Ink (3x Travel & Business) or Marriott Bevy (4x Grocery & Dining). I'd be wasting points to put those on my SWRR. So, I apply for them to get the Companion and repeat every 3 years. I'll do 2 years on, then run a year without Companion and plan to get it the following year.

New offer out there today... CP thru Feb for a $69 card.
Normally I get 2 credit cards, and score CP for 2 years. This deal is just one credit card and you get both 30,000 pts and CP for a little less than a year. If you have a couple flights planned for late in 2024 and don't already have CP, and don't want to go the dual credit card route or can't because you don't have a business, this could be a fast track to a few free flights! I think if you have as few as two flights planned for the fall this would be a good idea.

Chase is offering 75,000 points for the same $3000 spend on new Southwest cards starting today. We were able to take advantage of this in December. Between this 75,000 points offer and the business card which was 80,000 points, we got 155,000 points plus the points for whatever we spent. I made sure to wait to hit it all until January. It was actually nice to spread it out over two months starting in December rather than doing it all at once in January. I’ll have to remember that for the next time we play the credit card game in 2 years for SW.
