Aulani and wait listing

Update and question...

We booked the nights of 5/30 and 5/31 and have waitlisted the nights of 6/1-6/4 for ocean view and island garden view (studio).

I'm stalking availability a few times/day and if I see even one night for the nights we've waitlisted, I'll grab it.

If the nights we want do not become available on pints, they are available for $$$$, but I'm not inclined to pay $1000/night. Options I can think of:

1. Pay cash for the nights we want at Aulani, then if the room becomes available on points, cancel the cash room;
2. Pay cash for the night of 6/1, check out on 6/2 and stay somewhere more reasonably priced.

We have Hyatt points that could be used to book a Hyatt hotel in Waikiki.

WWYD and how long would you wait to finalize your plans?

I have the flights picked out and they're available with the credit cards points we have.
