We just decided to make a trip to Japan for the week of my kids school break in March. Do any of you have a recommendation for a travel agent that helps plan trips to Tokyo? We’re planning on 7 nights with 2 days for Disney. We’re also hoping to make it to Kyoto for the cherry blossoms. I’ve never used a TA before but this is a big one. Thanks. Can’t wait!

My daughter’s family is deciding whether they want to do this in March too. Keeping an eye on this thread for any suggestions you may get.

Sounds great but 7 days is not going to be long enough to fit in both Tokyo Disneyland and Kyoto. I'm assuming you will be coming from the US mainland and the jetlag will be brutal.
I would suggest you either pick Tokyo or Kyoto region. Also suggest skipping Disneyland as there will be so much to do in such a short period of time. Given only a week, go to Kyoto and you can do side trips to Nara, Osaka and long day trip to Hiroshima and Miyajima Island.
What time in March? Mid or early March will probably be too early for cherry blossoms. If later in March, schools will be out and everything, especially Disneyland will be packed. The school year in Japan ends late March and begins early April.

Anyone ever stay at one of the Disney hotels out there? Any recommendations?

We went for about this length of time (maybe a day less) some years back and had no problem spending time in both Tokyo and Kyoto (no Disneyland as we were not there for theme parks). We were able to see some highlights of each comfortably.
The Shinkansen makes that somewhat easier
Cheers.

I stayed at the Sheraton, which is on the Monorail route and very convenient. The hotel was gorgeous and not expensive.

There is a new Disney hotel that should be open or opening soon. I think it’s called Fantasy Springs and it’s right on a monorail stop.

I just looked it up and it says it opens in June. We should maybe wait until the summer for this trip for the new lands alone. Seems like it would be a shame to miss them by a few months.

The school year in Japan ends late March and begins early April. They’re only out of school for a few weeks?

The school year in Japan ends late March and begins early April. They’re only out of school for a few weeks? I believe the break between grades is quite short, only a week or two. But students get about a week off the first week of May (Golden week) and about 4 week mid August to mid September and another week for New Year. June would be a good time to go crowd-wise. it will be before the intense summer heat but June can be pretty rainy.

Sounds like a great trip to me. Tokyo Disney Sea is definitely on my short list.

I have no TA recommendation for Japan, but have been there many times personally. Two days for Tokyo Disneyland/Disneysea is perfect. That would give you a couple of days in Tokyo proper and a couple of days in Kyoto. Disneysea has a big expansion that is opening in spring 2024. The opening date is not set, so you might get lucky. We are going the first week of April 2024. Whether or not we go to Disneysea will depend on whether or not the expansion is open. Then again, if it is open, it will be a zoo. Never underestimate the ability of the Japanese to patiently outwait you. During X-mas break, we would show up 2 1/2 hours before the parks open, only to find tons of people already there before us! So it might be a blessing in disguise for a first timer if the expansion is not open.

I have airline points that will expire if I don’t use them by that month (enough for first class!), so I’m going to cross Tokyo Disney off my bucket list. I was mildly regretful that the expansion won’t be open when I’m there but now I can feel savvy! Once I complete this trip, Shanghai will be the only Disney park I haven’t yet visited.
